Brunei is requesting an exemption from the PH health worker deployment cap

Recommended Posts

Brunei has requested an exception from the Philippines' deployment cap on health personnel, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

“There are two hospitals here, one public and one private,” says the narrator.
The pay is comparable to what nurses in Singapore earn.
Because of the free housing and transportation, nurses have a high take-home income.
They can earn up to 2,000 Brunei Dollars per month if they work overtime, according to Labor Attache Melissa Mendizabal of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Brunei Darussalam.

P37.00 is the equivalent of one Brunei dollar.

The Philippines now has a deployment ceiling of 6,500 newly employed healthcare personnel abroad.
According to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, some 900 seats are still available.

Brunei has a demand for 200 nurses and 30 doctors, according to Merdizabal.

The Brunei government, according to the official, submitted a new request for exemption in July of this year.

Aside from healthcare, Filipino employees can find work in the oil and gas business and in the home service sector, where roughly 1,000 jobs are available.

“Prior to our current circumstance, we processed domestic worker job orders.
Then there are the nurses and those working in the oil and gas industries.
“Those sectors account for the majority of the task orders we've processed,” Merdizabal added.

Engineers and architects, as well as other oil and gas workers, are paid between 5,000 and 10,000 Brunei dollars per month.

Additionally, semi-skilled workers, such as car mechanics, are in high demand.

“The Brunei government is attempting to implement localization, which means they want to hire Bruneians.
The shop assistants, for example.
However, when it comes to supervisory and management posts, they hire our Filipino workers,” the labour attaché noted.
