After weeks of dropping active case counts, Cambodia's active daily case numbers improved for the fifth day in a row.

The official daily new COVID case total for today was 416, increasing the overall number of COVID cases to 93,926.

There are presently 78,582 Community Instances, with 15,344 cases being imported.

In comparison to its neighbors Vietnam and Thailand, Cambodia's daily new cases per million people ratio continues to demonstrate a remarkable drop, as shown in the graph below.

Today, 112 imported cases were declared, as the number of imported cases continues to rise as a result of the Thai border reopening on August 13th.

Although provinces continue to report high individual case totals, the lack of official daily case figures from Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and many more provinces makes it difficult to assess the true situation of COVID in Cambodia.

In addition to the ‘Delta' variety, the WHO today issued a warning about a new mutant virus known as “Mu,” which could soon reach Cambodia.

Cambodia also revealed 12 new deaths, bringing the total number of COVID-19-related deaths in Cambodia to 1928.

New cases surpassed recoveries today, with 386 new recoveries announced, bringing the total number of active cases to 2,491.
