Thai Tourism Minister visits Pattaya to discuss “Move On” reopening plan, plan to be presented to CCSA this Friday

Pattaya, Thailand-The Minister of Tourism and Sports, Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, visited Pattaya today, September 12th, 2021, to discuss the “Move On” reopening plan for the city to allow in foreign vaccinated tourists without a strict quarantine.

 

The meeting, which included the Chonburi Governor and multiple officials from Pattaya and Sattahip, which are the two areas selected for the “Move On” program, lasted over an hour and was to prepare proposal details for the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration, or CCSA, in Bangkok this upcoming Friday, September 17th, 2021. The CCSA would need to approve the plan for it to be allowed to proceed forward as early as October 1st. It would also need approval from the Thai Cabinet, chaired by Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan O’Cha.

 

We aren’t going to list every policy or proposal of the Move On plan, other than to state that the basic proposal is the same as we have previously covered and explained. I think tourists have already 'moved on' to other destinations due to the terrible barriers to come here, closures, restrictions, and the entire mismanagement of Covid.

 

Thailand, with only about 70 million people, has been having the 7th highest reported daily Covid death rate IN THE WORLD during weekdays. Hard to believe just how bad that is. They even beat India on many days.

'Move on' somewhere else is certainly a fitting name for their program.

Pattaya is NOT going to 'Move On' until all these daft Thailand entry restriction have gone. It's a complete waste of time and man hours even talking about it. But I guess it's all about making them look busy and deserving of an income.

Thailand needs to get its own house in order before starting to entertain foreign tourists and then they need to drop all the B S red tape and money gouging restrictions  - either open fully or don't bother, if you can't even open to your own local population how on earth are you ready for foreign visitors - all this is a political message to make the government look good in the news - the truth is something entirely different - "look we are opening up" just doesn't cut it on any level - Thailand is far from open or ready

I was watching a popular American youtuber the other day in the Jupitor area of Florida.

He's just got over a bout of Covid which knocked him for six, he also gave it to his wife and two daughters.

Previous to getting infected he would post videos of himself going around, mixing with all sorts of people, no mask, no social distancing nothing, and eventually got nailed.

After being fully quarantined at home he eventually got better.

Now he's out and about again, guess what.... same as before, no mask, no distancing never learned a damned thing.

His latest video was at a national drag race circuit, thousands of people there.. none protecting themselves, ridiculous.

just like the millions of people who have died in the past thousands of years from cold and flu. sometimes a person's body is not strong enough and they die, thats life. do the best you can to be healthy and forget about it.

An old idea but the excuse is it is different for each location?  Another waste trip one hour a Thai get together later to converse as their cut of local gambling etc. a private night out with drinking and girls that is how they come up with all these ideas and names for their programs?????   Sandbox, Moving on, Moving forward, Moving left/right, Step by Step, Moving backwards and wasting time and money is more like it.

The best you can do is to get vaccinated and survive!

The best society can do is help protect them, and to treat them well if they do get sick.

The U.S. is so screwed up with covid and it has become so  political that it is out of control.  It will be interesting to see if the MSM covers the areas to see if there are any major outbreaks.

 

Personally why anyone would go to the PC FL is beyond me but hey I guess they need something to do. 

 

Before we use the U.S. as a poster child for what to do about covid I think they need to get it resolved.

 

Love Vegas but right now even if I could afford it it is the last place I wuld want to go.  

Too much hassle with people on the airplanes.

Because the DK government know from start that 90% people quickly as possible must be vaccinated before it can open 100% again. Seems to be a big surprise for Thailand.

I agree with many of the above sentiments. We need to get Thailand opened up to its residents before even considering allowing free movement of tourists. A start would be to allow restaurants to fully open, ie, serving both food and booze, and things will move on from there. Many older tourists come to Thailand to enjoy the good Thai and international food here.

We seem to be going round in circles here as suggested before total vaccination of the Thai population including foreigners 

Then get rid of the paperwork involved in coming to Thailand plus the

Quarantine measures then think about opening up for foreign tourists

Drop most of the <deleted> in getting here. Visitors must be double vaccinated OK, health insurance OK but no quarantine or Embassy letters and get your own population double vaccinated too (I see a big improvement on this now). Open bars and restaurants fully and lets move on. The latest science is that it is Endemic which basically means it's here to stay and we will all get it eventually, but if you are vaccinated it should be a less dangerous issue.

 

Personally I fancy a trip to Tak province in October but what will the restrictions be? I should be double vaccinated by then which may be helpful.

Your argument about immune system will fix it does not stand stand even cursory scrutiny. The anti vaxxers use that argument when they run out of reasonable arguments. Many a dreadful disease have not been fixed by the immune system, like

Diphtheria
Polio
Tetanus
Hepatitis A B
Rubella

but by vaccinations from cradle to grave

As seen as we are all vaccinated the sooner we a rid of this Covid, or at least, stop dying in large numbers.
