Cambodia accomplished a somber milestone today, when the country's COVID cases surpassed 100,000 for the first time.

The number of active cases has risen again, approaching 4,000.

The official daily new COVID case count for today was 629, increasing the overall number of COVID cases to 100,133.

With 17,033 instances being imported, the total number of Community Cases is now 83,100.

The provinces continue to report a significant number of new cases on a daily basis; Battambang is particularly hard struck, with at least 252 cases confirmed in the Kamrieng market outbreak.

Unfortunately, a new regulation prohibiting the release of any provincial information, which appears to have taken effect late last week, has made determining the exact scope of COVID in Cambodia extremely difficult.

Certainly, there appears to be an upward tendency in The Kingdom, as shown in the graph below (please note that the data is two days behind):

Today, 113 imported cases were declared, as the number of imported cases continues to rise as a result of the Thai border reopening on August 13th.

Cambodia also revealed 9 more deaths, bringing the total number of COVID-19-related deaths in Cambodia to 2049.

New cases surpassed recoveries today, with 422 new recoveries announced, bringing the total number of active cases to 3,751.
