198 New Covid-19 Cases Confirmed in Laos, including 104 Local Cases

Covid-19 instances have been verified in 198 new cases in Laos, bringing the total number of cases to 17,555.


According to a report by the National Taskforce, the government completed 3,425 tests in the last 24 hours, confirming 198 new cases of Covid-19.

 

Nine community instances of Covid-19 were confirmed in Vientiane Capital, thirteen in Savannakhet Province, twenty-five in Champasack, one in Bokeo, nine in Luang Prabang, 43 in Khammouane, three in Luang Namtha, and one in Sekong.

 

Except for one case traceable to Pakse City, the local cases in Khammouane involve persons who had close contact with previously publicized cases, but in Chamapsack, practically all local cases occurred in Pathoumphone District and were tied to those infected at Pathoumphoen District Hospital.


Seven of the local cases in Savannakhet involved doctors and nurses who worked at the KM 9 quarantine center and were quarantined at the Dalavanh Guesthouse, while the remaining cases involved people who had direct contact with previously publicized cases.

 

Laborers who had returned from work in Vientiane Province and Xayaboury Province, as well as individuals who had contact with them, were among the cases in Luang Prabang.


Meanwhile, family and friends who attended a funeral in Sang Namman, Pakse City, Champasack Province, were among the nine cases reported in Vientiane Capital.

 

Three families have been affected, including one in Khamsavath Village with two cases and another in Nongkhor Village, Saysettha District, with one case. On September 7, the family returned to Vientiane Capital.

 

Two members of the second family, including two merchants with stalls at the Aussie Market in Sikhottabong but dwelling in Donnokhoum Village, Sisattanak District, tested positive. On September 9, the family returned to Vientiane Capital.

 

The third family, from Hatsayfong District's Donkasai Village, had four instances of Covid-19 when they returned to Vientiane Capital on September 10.

 

In Vientiane Capital, new red zones have been announced, including Khamsavath Village in Saysettha District, Donnokhoum Village in Sisattanak District, and Donsasai Village in Hatsayfong District.

 

Covid-19 was found in 94 cases across the country, with 21 cases in Vientiane Capital, 39 in Savannakhet, two in Luang Prabang, 26 in Salavanh, five in Champasack, and one in Xayaboury.

 

There are currently 4,270 ongoing Covid-19 cases in the country, with 16 deaths reported, bringing the total number of cases to 17,555.
