Champasack reports 104 new Covid-19 community cases.

Following a recent funeral in the province, more people have tested positive for Covid-19, resulting in a total of 104 new cases of community spread.


Over the last 24 hours, the Covid Taskforce reported 5,233 tests, with 233 new cases of Covid-19 being documented.

 

Two cases in Vientiane Capital, one in Vientiane Province, eleven in Savannakhet, 104 in Champsack, six in Salvanh, two in Bokeo, 17 in Khammouane, 12 in Luang Prabang, one in Sekong, and two in Luang Namtha were confirmed as cases of community spread.

 

A 29-year-old police officer from Nathom Village, Xaythany District, tested positive for Covid-19 in Vientiane Capital, despite being fully vaccinated and stationed at the National University Quarantine Center.

 

After having direct contact with an infected person, a 58-year-old police officer in Tanxang Village, Xaythany District, tested positive for Covid-19.

 

The Taskforce today identified the Vientiane Capital Office of Public Security as a source of risk.

 

New Red Zones in Vientiane Capital include:

 

-Amone Village in Saysettha District
-Houayhong and Hongkaykeo villages in Chanthabouly District
-Dongnasok Tai Village in Sikhottabong District
-Xaysavang, Dongmakkai, and Tanxang villages in Xaythany District

 

Meanwhile, there were 65 imported cases across the country, with 27 in Savannakhet, 19 in Vientiane Capital, nine in Champsack, four in Khammouane, three in Salavanh, and three in Luang Prabang.

 

There are currently 4,266 active Covid-19 cases in the country, with 13,623 recoveries and 16 deaths.

 

The country's total number of Covid-19 cases has now reached 17,905.
