On the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent congratulatory messages to Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei.

Xi praised the healthy and rapid development of China-Brunei relations over the past 30 years in his message, noting that their political mutual trust and cooperation in various fields has been deepening.
In regional and international affairs, China and Brunei have maintained close communication and collaboration, he said, setting an example of equal treatment and win-win relationships between big and small countries.

Xi emphasised the two countries' mutual assistance in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, describing it as a new chapter of friendship in the development of bilateral ties.

The Chinese president stated that he is willing to work with Hassanal to improve strategic communication and deepen bilateral cooperation in combating the pandemic and building the Belt and Road to benefit the two countries and their people.
