If you've never been to Pattaya how do you know it looks seedy?

a lot better than pattaya, but don't tell anybody, don't want too many people moving here

Not even Pataya is like Pataya now.

Wife drives to Chonburi, Rayong and Sri Racha for her work. These are industrial/manufacturing towns with nothing to do besides shopping malls.

Every time I go to Rayong I see a lot Farang there. They must think they are oh so special staying in Rayong, but in reality probably broke af. Why would anyone stay in such a boring place? Literally nothing to do. I stayed in only "hiso" hotel there (Holiday Inn) and got food poisoning from their dinner buffet.

so your not moving there ....

to be honest i like boring citys.  i go to thammarat in the south. and kind of like it. i just find a good veggie restaurant.  massage. and a gym. thats all i need to be happy.   what u think rayong or chantaburi (spelling) or i see trat is a city too.   im thinking of going overthat way in nov as i suspect less rain their than further south in surat thani area

Sri Racha....town on the way to Pattaya. Good quality condos as a lot of Japanese stay there and actually a lot less boring than Rayong.

yes i googled it .  i dont think for me i want to be away from bkk as far as possible  . i went to hua hin once and it felt like bkk energy their.  farther away maybe more relaxed vibe. im looking at chantaburi right now.   i see a resort with a pool.  30 bucks a night.

There's this place called Cowboy Town. I have no idea where it is except that it's not too far from Bangkok. I should really ask my wife for a name. Sounds like OP's place. All I remember is that they had Chocolate Factory outlet there and we stayed in this hotel right in the middle of nowhere. It was surreal. Anybody know the name?

Ban Chang sucks, don't go there.😐

I have rarely visited the "cowboy" street there.  But agree, it's not my favorite place.  But I'm a beach guy, and the beach there isn't very nice.

if you don't like bangkok vibe don't go near any town.

Opt for islands (sichang, larn, samet, chang and several more near).

On land try jomtien (southern part), na jomtien.

After rayong is Ban Phe, they have beach just after town, as well as Laem Mae Phim several km before town.

Those places are easy to get by public transport

NaJomtien is quite nice.  South of the Hua Yai road.  Actually, quite nice all the way to Bang Saray.  Sadly, weekend traffic has been terrible lately.

Trat is pretty cool.  Especially the Weekend market, that is now just Sunday's due to covid.  Nice city, easy to walk around, it's OK.  We stayed here and liked it.

Chanthaburi is also pretty cool.  Especially if you stay in this area.  Lots of coffee shops and restaurants on the river.  It's OK.

Not far from there is Chao Lao Beach.  Quite a nice beach and quiet area.

Rayong is a pretty big city.  Not sure you'd like it.  But nearby are some nice places.  The beaches in Ban Chang, Laem Mae Phim, etc.  The latter has some nice restaurants on the sea, cheap hotels across the street.  Very quite.

Thanks for all this. Helpful information for those of us who've never been south of Ban Phe/Koh Samed.

There's a rainy season and a dry season. Look it up. I've visiting KC for decades. Know it very well .

in nov and dec.  some places get more rain than others .  bkk for instance gets less rain than hat yai.  in nov and dec. that is why im asking about rain as krabi will get less rain than surat thani in nov and dec.  i could look it up as you suggest but i thought boots on the ground might know more about this than a computer program....................what is kc?

Are you?  It's geographically know, and labled in text as the wettest place in Thailand,  and it gets more rainfall than anywhere else is Thailand.   It doesn't  matter your personal  opinion,  as you arent quoted in text.   All the others reading this can check the statistics,  and know whom is correct.  So there you go, just because  you want to know it all and be correct doesn't  make you correct.  You're hilarious

what is kc and thier is a place in thailand that has had no rain for months.  where is that
