Brunei has lifted its travel ban on six countries, effective immediately

Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong said at the daily press conference yesterday that essential travel entry from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Indonesia will be open for consideration beginning November 1.

The COVID-19 Steering Committee made the decision with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's consent, and it was based on a risk assessment by the Ministry.

 

Holders of a valid work permit or a foreign worker licence granted by the Labor Department, as well as holders of Business and Professional Visit Visas sponsored by a ministry or authority, were defined as essential travellers by the COVID-19 Steering Committee.

 

Entry and exit-country travel approvals for foreign nationals travelling to and from five Indian subcontinent countries, entry of all foreign nationals departing from or through any airport in the Indian subcontinent, travel from Brunei Darussalam to the Indian subcontinent, and entry travel approval for foreign nationals departing from any airport in Indonesia via direct or transit flights are all under consideration, according to the minister.

 

Foreign individuals from the six countries who were granted pre-approval to enter Brunei Darussalam but later had their entry travel applications suspended owing to previous pronouncements, according to the minister, must re-submit their entry travel applications.
