Thailand on Monday (December 6) reported 4,000 new COVID-19 cases, 6,450 recoveries and 22 additional deaths over the past 24 hours.

▶︎ Infections outside prisons: 3,973. Prisons: 27

▶︎ Recoveries: 6,450

▶︎ Total infections since April 1: 2,116,378

▶︎ Total recoveries since since April 1: 2,027,839

Monday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 2,145,241 with 20,966 deaths.

The news comes as Germany has removed Thailand from its list of COVID-19 high-risk countries, effective from yesterday (Sunday), under which people arriving from Thailand can enter Germany without the need for quarantine, if they are fully inoculated with either BioNTech/Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca or Johnson&Johnson vaccines, according to the webpage of the Royal Thai Embassy in Berlin.

Despite the exemption from mandatory quarantine, the embassy said that Thai travellers to Germany must still carry a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test result, produced within the 72 hours prior to arrival, or 48 hours in the case of a negative antigen test result.

Thats excludes around 50% of people vaccinated in Thailand then who had either Sinovac or Sinopharm

I see a post above is already out of date then......lol

It was only a matter of time, there's going to be lots more to come unfortunately.

Yes sir, just wait another few hours and even this one could be out of date, but then with anything Covid numbers sometimes do change hourly as cases are sequenced no matter what some want to think.

Let's really hope that Omicron is less severe & vaccines still offer protection from hospitalization.

Good early signs from SA.

Less need for oxygen with shorter  stays in hospital.

No spike in deaths seen even as cases increase.

Still  early doors to read too much for Omicron but early signs look promising and a good read.

Seems every day consistently bad for Vietnam.

Thailand is in a distant second for the Asean countries it appears.  However, Thailand is still 24th overall in the stats for the world, been there for a long time.

24 Thailand 2,145,241 +4,000 20,964 +22 2,055,265 +6,450 69,012 1,369 30,625 299 14,913,135 212,893 70,049,814

At 24th as well for the 7 day average

24 Thailand 34,428 42,232 -18% 491 237 320 -26% 3 -7,804 -111 -83 -1 70,049,814

Even with cases supposedly dropping Thailand still can not shake of the cases like some of the other countries have. One has to wonder what's going on in Russia as well since those numbers have rocketed along with South Africas, but then we know that the Omicron variant is now entrenched in South Africa.

On another front we received a message dated last Friday that school would not be reopening for in person earning for the rest of this term, which in itself is very frustrating.  Looks like a 3 day school week on-line as well due to todays holiday and Fridays constitution day.  The reason they gave was not just covid but the uncertainty and extra pressure being put on the school system by the government.  Without the extra funds to be put in place they can not put the extra required measures into place.

Things change quickly, yesterday I reported there was one new covid case at my daughters school, another 7 have just been announced. Just received an email and now, there are 4 new cases in one class of Year 2 (6 - 7yrs). This class will now close for 10 days.

There are another 2 cases in Year 7 (11 - 12yrs). These cases are in 2 separate classes. For this they are asking all students to provide a negative test before returning to school and also offering online learning to those parents who may decide to keep their children off as a precaution.

Siblings of new cases and high risk contacts are asked to isolate at home for 7 days and return showing a negative test.

There is also a new case of a senior teacher.

So school will remain open for everyone else, it caters from 3 yrs - 17 years and has about 800 students.
