Despite the exemption from mandatory quarantine, the embassy said that Thai travellers to Germany must still carry a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test result, produced within the 72 hours prior to arrival, or 48 hours in the case of a negative antigen test result. Lets hope there is no upward bounce like we saw back then in both ATK positives and Case positives. On another front we received a message dated last Friday that school would not be reopening for in person earning for the rest of this term, which in itself is very frustrating. Looks like a 3 day school week on-line as well due to todays holiday and Fridays constitution day. The reason they gave was not just covid but the uncertainty and extra pressure being put on the school system by the government. Without the extra funds to be put in place they can not put the extra required measures into place.

Recent terrible case of abuse here in the news and possibly a teacher would have spotted this issue of abuse going on in the home. Thailand educational response to this pandemic has been as bad as its dreadfully slow vaccination campaign and non existent testing and sequencing.

Yes sir, just wait another few hours and even this one could be out of date, but then with anything Covid numbers sometimes do change hourly as cases are sequenced no matter what some want to think.

The clinical profile of admitted patients could change significantly over the next two weeks, by which time we can draw conclusions about the severity of disease with greater precision." "we have seen a sharp rise in admissions at the Steve Biko Academic and Tshwane District Hospitals (SBAH/TDH) Complex with 166 new admissions between 14 and 29 November 2021." Now lets see how Thailand responds to Omicron when it is actually in the community rather than found in a SHA hotel. Sensible measures yes, drastic knee jerk reactions no thanks, its already known this variant is highly transmissible so once it there's not a lot stopping it. Focus as usual is expedite vaccinations and boosters along with the other known measures. Edited December 6, 2021 by Bkk Brian

One has to wonder what's going on in Russia as well since those numbers have rocketed along with South Africas, but then we know that the Omicron variant is now entrenched in South Africa.

Things change quickly, yesterday I reported there was one new covid case at my daughters school, another 7 have just been announced. Just received an email and now, there are 4 new cases in one class of Year 2 (6 - 7yrs). This class will now close for 10 days. There are another 2 cases in Year 7 (11 - 12yrs). These cases are in 2 separate classes. For this they are asking all students to provide a negative test before returning to school and also offering online learning to those parents who may decide to keep their children off as a precaution. Siblings of new cases and high risk contacts are asked to isolate at home for 7 days and return showing a negative test. There is also a new case of a senior teacher. So school will remain open for everyone else, it caters from 3 yrs - 17 years and has about 800 students.
