Latest developments and discussion of recent events in the Ukraine War
What you fail to realize is that civlization is a thin veneer we apply to our animal nature, and before this veneer was developed it was common practice to fight over the beautiful girl, and she would go with the winner. In the context of states, rather than engage in the rhetoric of 6 year olds you would do well to study the first principle of "Offensive Realism": "Great powers are the main actors in world politics and the international system is anarchical" Not much civilization and genteel white knightery here I'm afraid. The world has already had to accept Putin's war on Ukraine, just as Putin had to accept the lies and broken promises of NATO. But actions have reactions. Putin very much has a right to choose how to crush Ukraine, because he can, and if he chooses nuclear weapons to do so, the West knows it cannot retaliate in kind or it would be incinerated. So when you talk about "civilization" always remember it only goes so far, as Berthold Brecht already knew. -

Can I get skin cancer in Asia?
Sepsis isn't good. About 2 years ago, my dermatologist began offering radiation treatment for skin cancers. No cutting involved, after a biopsy is done. Three treatments a week over about 5 or 6 weeks. It takes longer to drive to her office than the treatment takes. Getting the location correct and drawing an outline on a sheet of transparent plastic when a cancer is found, takes the most time. I can be in and out of the office for a radiation treatment in 15 minutes or less sometimes. -

Report Traffic Violations for Cash Rewards, Say Thai Police
I would spend my whole day sending in dash cam vids, if I got 1K for each one, I don't want to be part of a lottery thanks, get the police to do their job, or give me their salary. -

A high tea ?
Mandarin is the name of the "group' that now owns and manages it. But going back. 1955 first time in BKK with my folks, The Oriental. 63 round the world trip with my folks The Oriental, First time back here as an adult 1978, showed off to my girlfriend and stayed at The Oriental. Been to many weddings, meetings, functions, and dinners at The Oriental. Never once heard a person Thai or farang call the hotel The Mandarin Oriental. We will save that for Always There. 😂🙃🤪 -

7-Eleven Introduces Convenient PromptPay QR Code Payments Nationwide
Great news. More time spent waiting for some idiot to get their phone out, scroll through their photos before releasing they need their bank app to scan, couple of minutes to remember their login code and another couple of minutes to work out how to scan. Sometimes it takes way too long as it is. Seven 711 workers in the shop with one serving customers. The other 6 are either stacking shelves, getting home deliveries organised or making drinks. p.s. It will come in handy though; sometimes.- 1

Siamburi
Depends on the cheese, mature cheese (due to the relevant microbial consortia destroying bad bacteria - hence mature cheeses good reputation for being a food product over thousands of years) are quite resistant to being contaminated by bad bacteria due to excessive quanities of Lactobacilli - in most fermented foods. However, short life cheese can be contaminated by bad bacteria such as Listeria monocytogenes which kills, also by Mycobacterium bovis (a source of tuberculosis). Public health measures are to protect. Older people, such as many of the Asean Now members, would be quite vulnerable to bad food poisoning from contaminated food. -

First 90 day report - does it have to be done in person, not online?
Jomtien require an in person visit after you enter the country for a 90 day report. After that you can do it online. You used to be able to do the report online after returning from abroad, but that has changed in the last year. Extract from email below: -
