Siam Rath said that Photharam police in Ratchaburi were called to a house after an out of control son held a gun to his mother's head on the second floor.

After twenty minutes the cops persuaded Narong, 49, to give himself up.

He left a pen gun on the staris as he came down.

Fearing that he would be attacked and in an act of reassurance with the man, the local station chief Pol Col Sombat Phongam handcuffed himself to Narong.

He then apologized to his 73 year old mother Sakhu who was in a wheelchair.

The family has been in strife after Narong's wife was jailed for drugs offences.

The suspect was taken into custody on a charge of having an illegal weapon.

He was tested for Covid and drugs and other charges may follow in due course.
