I am confused.

Where is this monstrosity?

It is reported via the Sun newspaper in the Pattaya news that it is in Bangkok.

There is to be a Space Suite Connex with two bedrooms, sea-view balconies and an en-suite jacuzzi.

Where can you actually see the sea in Bangkok?

Saw it being built last year. Huge...in Naklua.

Yet both the Sun and the Pattaya News say it is in Bangkok.

I am not surprised by the Sun, but didn't anybody at the PN fact check it?

Its here in Pattaya, looks great, all it needs now is tourists to fill it

Tourists ? Apparently they are now listed as an endangered specie in Thailand.

Its a visual monstrosity. I cannot fathom why any normal tourists would book there. The only reason I can think of is that the developers have certain knowledge that casinos are planned. And even then there sure are better locations on the water. So if no casino then what's left? The high end domestic market? Conventions?

Pattaya should have a curried themed monstrosity of a hotel now to cater for all the Indians.  They could get a few insights as to the type of attractions needed to get more of them here by studying Bradford or Leicester in the UK.

Given the "Special Promo" rate for opening is a minimum of 5,000 THB, I can't see them attracting many of the typical (non-Thai) Pattaya Tourists but I can see it being full with Thais for the 1st couple of months until the novelty wears off & they revert to the Centera/Pullman.

It does look really interesting though so keeping an eye on the pricing/offers & if it drops below 3,500 will book a night there even though I live less than 2KM away.

Conventions, Casinos, Golf and Nightlife - can all exist alongside the more traditional bars and restaurants.

Pattaya and its traditional bars hand in hand with casino and conventions.

As the song says...

The future's so bright I'm going to need shades.

Why not just stay on Kansas. ?Your theme park hotel is closer. Why in the world visit Thailand for this? Any way time will tell but this looks like the white elephant from hell.

Loads of theme rooms with Jacuzzi in CM ...... 180bht/hr.

5,000bht, I think not.

Have watched this being built and it is quite impressive.

Puts the existing hotels to shame

Also there are plans for another large double hotel from Marriott next to the Hard Rock Hotel as part of a development by CP

If they do pass the legislation to allow casinos in Thailand I expect more of these themed hotels to be built - Pattaya beach could well become the "Vegas strip" of Asia and quickly outshine Sihanoukville and Macau as a destination

Looking at the devastation that Covid has wrought in the Pattaya economy it could do with this lift - I presume anyone with enough money to gamble in a casino is automatically thought of as a "quality" tourist.

Not only that - this is big enough to house large conventions, that is the future for Pattaya - Conventions, Casinos, Golf and Nightlife - can all exist alongside the more traditional bars and restaurants.

"I presume anyone with enough money to gamble in a casino is automatically thought of as a "quality" tourist."

The casinos in the US are filled with folks on modest incomes.

The casinos do it on volume of course, don't need the "whales" to make a go of it

Seniors in thrift store outfits smoking and losing the rent money, no 007 glamor spots at all.

Don't know how it is in Macau.

I was in town yesterday, they are around that is for sure. Lots more traffic for one, and I sat there and watched a gang of 6 or 7 wandering down the middle of the road heads a wobbling!

Maybe on a good day from Baiyoke tower.

Should be a great asset to the north Pattaya Beach part of town, which has been very popular with domestic tourists.  My partner and I were at T21 the other day and it actually felt busy for maybe the first time since covid hit.  Lots of people around, most of the restaurants doing ok, including one we noticed that had people waiting for a table.  Food court was busy and almost all the tables were occupied.  More people seemed to be out and about on Second and Beach Road.   Nice to see some signs of revival.
