The entire trade of Brunei increased by 92.8 percent in January

Brunei's overall commerce in January 2022 was 2,607.8 million Brunei dollars (1,890.3 million US dollars), up 92.8 percent year on year.


Brunei's exports climbed by 128.9% year on year to 1,487.7 million Brunei dollars, according to the latest figures provided on Thursday by the Ministry of Finance and Economy. This was mostly due to rise in mineral fuel exports.


With a value of 1,072 million Brunei dollars, mineral fuels contributed the most to overall exports (72.1 percent).

 

Imports in January 2022 grew by 59.4% year on year to 1,120.1 million Brunei dollars.


Japan received the greatest share of exports (24.7 percent), followed by China (21.8 percent) and Singapore (10.2%).
Mineral fuels were Japan's most important export, while chemicals were China's.


In January 2022, Brunei's imports from Russia accounted for 39 percent of total imports, followed by Norway at 10.8% and Papua New Guinea at 10.7%.
