Pompey Lad 1938
I note on the Wise internet page that they have placed a notice in red, stating that for the time being they can only accept transfers of 26,000 GBP or above. A casualty of the recent market problems earlier this week?
BritManToo
It's 'cos it's the weekend, and they don't want to accept a transfer where the rate they promise is wildly different when they send the money on Monday. Doubt this'll be the case during weekdays.

roo860
Just now, pontious said: It says 28000 pounds - not Baht. Just tried to send £1000, and it wouldn't accept it, tried £600 and it accepted it, so from what I can see is they've worded it incorrectly. Mind you I'm still a bit drunk from last night!

JohnOFphon
I tried to start a transfer this morning. Same way I have for years, but something kooky today. when I entered the amount I want to transfer from my borderless account (or whatever it's called now) I box with red letters comes up and says they can't transfer more than 28,000 USD now. Ok....but my transfer is way less than that!! Maybe just wait until later...won't arrive until Monday pm anyway. Anyone run into this block besides me??

That makes more sense as Baht rather than 28k Pounds or Dollars. Trying to limit speculation as Baht just went below 38/$ so expect many trying to take advantage of best exchange rate in years which may go down Monday with PM just being allowed to return to office?
Popular Post Pib
Yes...same issue. But it says a max of 28K THB (not USD) which amounts to around $750 right now depending on the exchange rate. See snapshot 1 below. I expect it's Wise's way of beating around the bush to say the USD-THB exchange rate is too volatile right now for us to do larger transfers on the weekends when the FX markets are closed. Maybe they are also concerned a little what may happen this weekend base on the court's ruling that Prayut can stay in power for a couple more years. IMO it will remain calm with the exception of a few very small protests here and there....a nothingburger. I have an account with OFX also and I've been with them for around 3 years--and they have never allowed USD-THB transfers of any amount on the weekends/when FX markets are close. The THB FX market is really very small....considered a minor/exotic world currency. See Snapshot 2. I doubt Wise is shifting to a policy of only small or no THB transfers when FX markets are closed (i.e., weekends/holidays) but you never know. Snapshot 1...from my Wise acct. Snapshot 2....from my OFX acct. I've always got this notice over the years. 1 1

The confirm button is 'greyed' out. (and the pink warning originally stated 28kGBP, now changed to 28kbht) Tried again 500GBP (21kbht) .......... button works, no pink warning. So looks like they're limiting their exposure to wild currency swings. Like I said earlier, bet it'll be back to normal on Monday when they aren't risking the W/E '3 day' exposure.
