Not much to do with this story other than it's about someone cheating on tests.

Grand daughter is in the first grade.   She has told me about a classmate that has been copying her answers to tests that she has been taking.    The class has desks that seat two kids side by side, so it is probably easy to do.

The other day she told me that when taking math tests,  she has been writing the wrong answer to some of her math problems.   Her classmate then copies the wrong answer.  When he isn't looking she erases the wrong answer and writes in the correct answer.
She is six years old and figured that out?

Is she available to head up the committee investigating the cheating? It needs a expert with experience in how to spot a cheat...

And we all know the highest level of transparency they can achieve is akin to trying to see through a housebrick!

To be fair, they are brought up in an education system that, on occassion, actively promotes copying/cheating. So why wouldn't they think it was okay to carry that principle forward in their working lives? Many, had they been in any other country, would probably still be redoing 5th grade for the umpteenth time in the hope of graduating to 6th grade. Without cheating/copying most of them would not have graduated high school. I wonder if they apply their school practices to crime reports too, handing them all in just before the promotion board sits or just in time for the annual audit rather than immediately after the crime. Seems they're allowed to do that with homework/assignments in school so why not at work?

I believe the little girl is doctoring her answers to make sure the cheater doesn't benefit from his copying and has western ideals of honesty and integrity, like her grandfather. The same way a safe driver reports a drunk driver to stop other people getting hurt...

That's probably how/why they got caught out!

Another example - for many years uni students could buy 'Cram Booklets' at shops near unis.

Each booklet aligned to specific courses which were repated every year.

Booklet container dozens of 'exam questions' which had been copied from actual exam questions handouts. Operator of the whole thing had staff hanging around outside of exam rooms paying students for exam questions handouts, plus answers.

Only one problem the answers weren't from cousre professors, they were 'invented' by the Cram Booklets staff.

One big problem - many of the answers were wrong or not even aligned to the question and/or the course.

Eventually most unis put a stop to it: Insisting that student exam answer papers wouldn't be accepted unless aaccompanied by the question paper.

- Plus question papers all numbered and records kept which student received question paper # jjj  with threats question paper not handed in - student got automatic F for the course.

No more Cram Booklets.

This sounds like Plan B for the chaps who can't afford an Elephant Ticket?

Plan A: pay for the promotion (often with borrowed funds from other police).

Plan B: pay for the answers, and join the massive promotion queue.

Plan C : Here's a motorcycle, go direct traffic.

Plan D : Work at BKK/DMK.

Not quite true. To get into the police in SIngapore applicants need serious qualifications and must pass well established behavioral assessments.

One state in Australia made a policy maybe 20 years ago, all recruits must have a masters degree in one of several subject areas plus they get quite serious/long-term education about the law and ethics/behaviors.

It's now all well in place and has changed the public attitudes of the police and is responsible for much better police reactions and handling of scenarios and big improvements in investigation capabilities.

One country is S E Asia had so many rpoblems with it's Customs Department/officers they sacked all of them and employed a selected customs team from a European country who were supported by selected teams from the military of the country with the problems. Plus regulations prohibiting dismissed officers from every being re-employed.

no need for a committee to investigate anything, it's a waste of time and money when everybody already knows the outcome....just by looking at some RTP agents and their lack of any physical shape we know how they must have been selected not to mention speaking to some as well, they poor speaking/dialog skills, poor social skills (just to mention a few points) tells us a lot about the hiring/selection process

Er.....it will be a 'virtual' committee. There is a well worm template to print the findings and release to the media......

I think if you get caught cheating then you fail the exam. It's only the more  devious, who do not get caught that can rise to the dizzy heights of supervisor.

What about all these fancy ranks Lt/Col, Maj/Gen etc? I'm sure these guys don't sit any exams, all they need to do is supply a very full brown envelope.

Caught cheating !  They can write ? I thought the police always needed pictures and theatrical photo ops and charades.

The moving finger writes but not with the police, the moving finger points.

it really is like children playing at being adults here in Thailand. Not even sure why they bother with the exams anyway as I am sure none of what they 'actually' do can be written down surely. 1) How to scam tourists 2) How to maximize brown envelope payments 3) How to avoid doing any real police work.... complete joke!

One was PM of Thailand up until 16 years ago.

And just a few days ago Prayuth was quoted by the media saying absolutely no corruption under his watch.  Clown show from top to bottom.

It pains me to type this and makes me sad but I'm of the opinion that the whole country is now a basket case. It had the chance early 2000s to change but they reverted back to the old ways. Comments like that from the PM simply demonstrate to me that I am correct and that they cannot be trusted.

It seeps into private enterprise here too, so many of these corrupt, slimy, uniformed snakes become chairman of companies or have seats on the board only because of their rank. Complete parasites that rely on their membership of a uniformed gang to bully their way to financial gain.

No.  What with the homework she does after school, the additional tutoring she has in math and reading, and all the LOL dolls she has that she is instructing on how to dress up properly, she has little time for such a menial task as that.

Perhaps this is a national socialised phenomena?

I have a pal who lectures at large BKK uni.

He told me face to face (albeit about five few years back) how he has reported students (many), mostly hi-so, cheating e.g. paying people to attend exams for them, writing papers for them, AND expecting the lecturers to accept this as the way they do things and that this was quite above board because of who 'they' are.
