What is going on with the sites that calculate the USD - Baht exchange rate that Visa has set for the day?

I have been getting a higher rate than what actually exists. For instance, right now (Dec 19)  it is stating 35.16, when the actual rate you get is much lower than that.

Is there a reliable site I can use for this purpose?

Never has VISA used the mid market rates that a site like xe.com shows.

They always cash in on a lower rate.

And most card issuing banks eat another bite of the cake

The links above are preset with 2% bank fee which you can change.

Long ago when I used VISA at Thai ATMs I sometimes won a bit over last cash rates by the fact that VISA updated rates only once a day. No idea whether this still the case.

This is giving 35.16 - try it. That is not the Visa rate now.

For the "regular" exchange rate, not the Visa-set rate.

I have been using these sites for years, so I am aware of the transaction fees and all that. And I know 35.16 is not the Visa rate because I did a transaction and calculated yesterday  (rate does not change over weekend).

Thanks for everyone's replies - let's hope we can figure out what is going on!

You made a charge here in Thailand?

In THB?

When?

I see 34.7657 as the Visa/0% "rate" right now?

No clue where you're gettting 35.16?

Or did you use DCC?
