New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been indicted on federal criminal charges, according to sources cited by the *New York Times*. The indictment stems from a lengthy federal investigation into campaign fundraising violations and possible foreign influence on his administration. While the exact nature of the charges remains undisclosed, this development comes after months of scrutiny surrounding the mayor’s campaign activities.

Adams, who has consistently denied any allegations of wrongdoing, has repeatedly emphasized that both his campaign staff and administration were instructed to adhere strictly to legal guidelines. "I’ve told everyone from the beginning to follow the law," Adams has said in response to earlier inquiries.

The investigation has attracted significant attention, with many closely watching how it unfolds in the coming days. At present, Adams' legal team, City Hall, and the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York have not provided additional comments. Meanwhile, the public and political circles await further details on the indictment and its potential impact on New York City's leadership.

CNN has reached out to representatives of the mayor and federal authorities but has yet to receive a response.

Serious allegations.

Put him on trial, if he’s found guilty, throw him in prison.

He is not close to President Biden. However as the duly elected mayor of the USA's largest and one of its most important cities, he had a significant presence.

Can't say I'm surprised.

The Dem elite have been cheezed off at him since he publicly revealed that the cost of caring for NYC's 110,000 Harris/Biden  "newcomers" is $12 billion over 3  years. That's $36k per head per year.

He painted a target on himself when he said the quiet part out loud, and in public.

Multiply $36k by 10 million guests of Harris/Biden policies, and we're talking real money... Every year.

It was Adams administration that welcomed the migrants and made them  feel at home.

Yet another corrupt Democrat and he is indicted. Indict Biden too if there are evidences. No side shows of press conferences moaning and whining of unfair legal process, witch hunt and corrupt judges.

New York City’s Adams ups pressure on Biden amid border trip

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) is blasting President Biden on immigration as his city struggles to handle an influx of asylum seekers, escalating tensions that could prove to be a hassle for both of them heading into reelection years.

Adams, up for reelection in 2025, has been sounding the alarm since last spring over what his office reports is a surge of more than 110,000 asylum seekers into the nation’s most populous city — and he’s repeatedly criticized the Biden administration and Republicans, while calling on the federal government for help.

NYC Mayor Eric Adams goes to DNC without speaking spot in snub: ‘This is a slap in the face’

Eric Adams will be heading to the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago despite not being offered a coveted speaker spot — a snub for the Dem mayor of the nation’s largest city, political insiders said.

The Windy City cold shoulder awaiting Adams — who will visit the DNC Wednesday and Thursday — is Democratic pooh-bahs’ revenge for the mayor bucking President Biden on the migrant crisis, as well as potential concern over a federal corruption probe swirling around City Hall, sources said.

Because neither of you did your homework, you missed your chance to claim that the Biden administration was persecuting Adams for his criticism of the Biden administration. Although I wouldn't put it past either of you to pull a reverse.

That has already been discussed on this thread.

An interesting theory. But my theory is simpler. He's just another corrupt Democrat.

And of course, if your theory is correct, that means that the Justice Dept is investigating Democrats despite their political connections. As it has done with Senator Robert Menendez, who has been convicted, and Henry Cuellar, a Texas Democrat.

Being very close to Biden and being very corrupt are not mutually exclusive.

Quite the opposite in fact.

But the Justice Dept going after such a person certainly contradicts the narrative of a corrupt Biden administration. And of course, there is no good evidence of Joe Biden being corrupt. Of course, some lame brains keep on writingthe "Biden crime family" as though that were some kind of evidence. James Comer couldn't even convince enough Republicans that there was adequate evicence to show that Biden had committed any crimes..

Keep on repeating those innuendos about Biden. After all, even among Republican legislators, they ultimately went nowhere.

The case is interesting, and based upon the allegations to date, I think that unless there is direct evidence of  the Mayor having directly broken a specific law there isn't enough to secure a conviction, because the  laws are so weak. (Not excusing wrongdoing, just pointing out the easy to circumvent rules on accepting gifts.)

As a reminder, U.S. prosecutors charged Adams with accepting illegal campaign contributions and luxury travel from Turkish nationals seeking to influence him, and that allegedly helped to underwrite Adams' 2021 mayoral campaign. Adams is accused of accepting  free rooms at luxury hotels and meals at high-end restaurants. The Turkish interest wanted zoning permission for the construction of a 36 storey "consulate" building.  Here are some of the benefits the man is alleged to have accepted;

Year Destination Benefits Value
2016 India (via Turkey) Free upgrade to business class for two on a roundtrip from New York to India $12,000+
2017 France, Turkey, China Free business class tickets for three on a roundtrip from New York to France, Turkey, and China. Heavily discounted stay at Bentley Suite of St. Regis Istanbul $41,000+
2017 China (via Turkey) Free business class tickets for two on a roundtrip from New York to China $16,000+
2018 Hungary (via Turkey) Free upgrade to business class for two on a roundtrip from New York to Hungary $12,000+
2019 Turkey Free upgrade to business class for one on a flight from New York to Turkey; free stay at Cosmopolitan Suite of St. Regis Istanbul; free meals, transportation, and entertainment in Istanbul $9,000+
2021 Turkey (solicited and accepted but then canceled) Free upgrade to business class for two on a roundtrip from New York to Turkey; free or steeply discounted luxury hotel and resort stays, transportation, entertainment, and meals $21,000+
2021 Ghana (via Turkey) Free upgrade to business class for two on a roundtrip from New York to Ghana; free meal and transportation during Istanbul layover $12,000+

Many politicians and some judges accept junkets and freebies. For over 20 years,  SCOTUS  Justice Clarence Thomas  accepted  luxury holidays from Harlan Crow, a large Republican donor. H   got away with it because there are no rules saying a SCOTUS justice could not accept such gifts. Both Democrats and Republicans accept gifts and holidays from donors and lobbyists. Some are declared and others are not.

This has nothing to do with Biden or the Democrat party itself. It is all about big city political operations. There isn't a large city in the USA, where this sort of disgusting allegation does not occur in some form or another and that includes Republican dominated cities and states.  It's all about the laws in respect to lobbying.

The late Republican Senator McCain was a sponsor of some  important bipartisan lobbying oversight and control laws. These were never passed, in large part because of Republican objections.  Before complaining about corrupt politicians, US citizens should ask themselves why they did not speak out in favour of tougher rules and laws that would forbid such practices, and why they did not support their Representatives and Senators in both parties who wanted the changes.

And note too that the case has been investigated for several years and is not a new investigation.
