He could if he wants to but there's that pesky ethics committee.

That is what I am saying . I will spell it out one more time. He took the nomination so he could resign without facing the committee or admit any wrongdoing. Trump picks his real AG choice and now a seat not under investigation is available to the GOP.

Gaetz would need to decline to be seated since he won the seat in November and is entitled to take it.

Good, Gaetz was most likely a prop to throw the left in tailspin of hissy fits. I’d put my money on that Bondi was the original pick and the rest is just political gaming towards the left. The political criminal left are going to be losing sleep having this hardass Bondi setting things straight.

Yeah, it gave the media propagandists a shiny object to hyperventilate over.... for a week nonstop, while Trump named the rest of his cabinet picks

Which is exactly what he did.

This is great news- Gaetz is out of congress and out of consideration for government positions.

What's next for the pedophile cokehead?

You can prove that? If you can't it's slander.

He wasn't convicted of anything like that.

It was entertaining seeing lefty heads exploding. I wonder what their next head exploding obsession will be?

Goodness...he was such the perfect candidate! He gave new meaning to the term sycophancy...he was so far up 47's backside that he got the first bite of cheeseburger! And if he really is a kiddie diddler, as witnesses in his investigation allege, that behavior had to win him the respect of the guy known to enter teens' dressing rooms during beauty pageants.

And talk about qualified! King Solomon is jealous! Gaetz made that Matthew Whitaker guy from 45 1.0---the guy who schlepped deep water toilets for the well-hung man and who sold time shares in time travel machines---look like a mere posseur (although 47 has now nominated Whitaker, with those impressive credentials, as NATO Ambassador).

One wonders just how egregious the allegations---with witness testimony and photographs and Venmo receipts---must be against him. While he is unlikely to be named anything other than a public nuisance by FL Gov De Santis, I'm going to guess he ends up with a Prime Time show on Fox or Newsmax. Fox, in particular, has a way of hiring alleged rapists like Pete Hegseth (who paid a financial settlement to his accuser) and guys who engage in inappropriate sexual advances in the workplace like Bill O'Reilly, Ed Henry, Roger Ailes.

GOP members are on TV saying they were shown the pictures from Gaetz phone while on the house floor of Matt's young looking conquests and Matt bragged about how ED drugs were the bomb.

Proof or just hearsay? I doubt you can prove it, so just the usual made up propaganda.

Once outspoken critic of Gaetz, Mullin now considers Trump AG pick

Published November 20, 2024 NB Mullin Republican House member now Senator from OK

Gaetz made a name for himself in October 2023 when he led a successful charge to oust former speaker Mike McCarthy. Shortly after, Mullin — who previously served with Gaetz in the House — told CNN that Republican House members disdained Gaetz's boasting about sexual conquests.

“He would brag about how he would crush (erectile dysfunction) medicine and chase it with an energy drink so he could go all night,” Mullin told the news network.

In an interview with Meet the Press Sunday, Mullin said the House should "absolutely" release a report from the House on Gaetz's misconduct. Mullin argued Gaetz's background will matter when it comes time for the Senate to approve his cabinet appointment.

She hardly 'sets things straight' when she supports trump's endless lies and misinformation. I see trump intends to waste more tax payers money with an investigation into his 2020 loss.

LOL. You both lack objectivity. Partisanship robs you of the ability to objectively evaluate the situation.

Trump's first choice for the job was Matt Gaetz, the former representative for Florida's 1st congressional district, as well as former drug user and former seducer of minors.

Given Pam Bondi is only Trump's second choice, and I believe for a good reason, her professional profile must be a notch (okay, just a tiny notch) lower than Gaetz's.

Which positions her exactly where she is and deserves to be. Serving POTUS at the very best of her limited (compared to Gaetz) capabilities. She is blonde, busty, and very accommodating.

"LOL. You both lack objectivity. Partisanship robs you of the ability to objectively evaluate the situation."

Absolutely absurd and laughable...:cheesy:

Matt Gaetz would probably have had problems passing the Senate committee and Trump has a very limited time to get all the nominees in place. Pam Bondi has all the experience needed as she was the Florida AG for 8 years. She will have no problem being approved by the Senate.

Your infantile innuendo is embarrassing and frankly pathetic!

Really? A Republican nominee, named by a Republican president, struggling to be approved by a Republican dominated Senate? What's wrong with you guys?

What is deeply pathetic is your lack of respect for opinions different from your own. Your inability to tolerate dissent, your violent verbal reaction, are fascist or communist traits (the choice is yours) and are clear evidence of the unbearable weakness, of the indefensibility, of your political position.

There is no need for complex arguments or to resort to insults to highlight the incoherence of totalitarianism. Irony is more than enough to bury certain opinions in the garbage heap of history where they belong

Because let's be clear: it's in the garbage heap of history you and Trumpism are headed.

He withdrew because he was becoming the topic in the woke media, and detracting from the Trump push to assemble a team to destroy the woke liberals that have been running amok for the past 4 years.

All Trump picks will suffer the same attacks, but Gaetz had too much baggage to survive, even if it wasn't true.

Hopefully Trump's team will get payback for him too.

It's going to be a great spectacle come January 21.

yup.... that stalwart citizen, Gaetz,  is just the type to fall on his sword for the good of America.

I love the way some folks portray Gaetz as somehow falling on his sword on this great withdrawal. All for the greater good. If his nomination wasn't so seriously wrong in the first place, it would all be bloody hilarious.

Even Trump's acknowledgment of his standing down with, "Matt has a wonderful future, and I look forward to watching all of the great things he will do!" suggests good luck (but not with my administration).

Some of Trump's picks look OK and most all will probably get confirmation without too much dirty laundry being aired. Gaetz always was a no-hoper.
