Family Rush to Rescue British Man With Mystery Illness in Thailand
They've never had to pay for treatment in U.K. I'm sure some honestly believe that treatment would be provided irrespective of their ability to pay because; 'They'd never be allowed not to do that'. -

36-Year-Old Drowns After Drinking and Diving into Pond
Photo courtesy of KhaoSod A 36-year-old man drowned in a temple pond in Chachoengsao today, February 18, after jumping into the water to cool off while intoxicated. The incident took place at Ban Noen Sawang temple in the Sanam Chai Khet district, despite locals' warnings about the dangers of swimming under the influence. Village headman Thanachok Prakongsuk was informed by residents and quickly notified the Panom rescue volunteers from Thung Phraya to assist on the scene. The victim, identified as Chaiyan Wangsuk from Mueang Sawang subdistrict, submerged in the pond, which measures 2 meters deep, 20 meters wide, and 40 meters long. Rescue volunteers arrived equipped with diving gear to search for him. Prior to the accident, Chaiyan was seen preparing to jump into the water. Residents warned him off due to his drunken state. Despite initial success in stopping him, Chaiyan attempted to jump again—likely hitting an obstacle or suffering a cramp—and unfortunately sank. Nearly two hours later, after a challenging search in dark, cold waters, his body was recovered. Thanachok Prakongsuk reported that the family did not question the cause of death. Sanam Chai Khet police instructed the Panom rescue team to transport the body to Sanam Chai Khet Hospital for an autopsy following legal protocol. The family has been advised to prepare necessary documents to claim the body for religious rites, reported The Thaiger. -- 2025-02-19 -
