If you have not tasted Yauco Selecto coffee from Puerto Rico you have not lived and your life is meaningless.

Reads like you've been hacked by Bob.

  • I would have just drunk it, assuming it didn't cost me any more. I try to take life as it comes, which in Thailand usually turns out to be lukewarm!

Immediately thought that I would run home and tell ASEANNOW about it. I will go back now and drink the coffee

yeah… I always figured it was somewhat of a myth….   But a BLEVE is a real thing…

Water superheated beyond its boiling point in a microwave has no nucleation points, added coffee ( or anything ) creates those nucleations sites in the super heated water  & creates explosive evaporation of scolding hot water…

Rare, but common enough to be able to recreate if you wanted to.

IME you can boil water in a microwave quite safely, unless the container is too full.

You're right, other ingredients changes the outcome.

" Scolding hot water?" the O is a long way from the A on a keyboard, how many beers have you had?

Enough to consider myself well & truly ‘scalded’ for a spelling error….     & my ego is now burnt !

You’re supposed to add water too Nick…..    not just put granules on a plate. 🫣

For some mysterious reason in my synapses, your comment reminded me of a woman in Port Hedland who had an Austin A30.

The passenger door kept swinging open on bends, so she took it to a garage and asked them to fix the problem.

They fixed it all right, tack welded the door to the frame.

I went to McDonalds and ordered a Cheeseburger with no cheese and a Hamburger with cheese and the girl just stood there looking at me like I was stupid.

What standards people have to measure life's meaning...

Think about it one of the greatest pleasures in life, drinking Yauco Selecto coffee, has eluded you.

Have you even lived at all?

Is it your Daily tipple of choice or something you save for Birthdays ?

Cafe Lawak with beans extracted from the Civet Cat is a thing in Indonesia…. While the berry is consumed, the beans remain intact. Supposedly the coffee is somehow enhanced by the stomach acids in the dietary tract of the cat…. And ‘pooped out’…..  then washed, roasted and used for coffee.

Entertainingly Thailand attempted the same using elephants…. Someone clearly thinking of ‘upscaling’…!!!!!

It's all about personal taste. I've had some of the best coffee you can buy, besides Vietnamese, which I will try when I visit Vietnam, and it was better than simple coffee, but I'll still drink Nescafe 0% because I don't have a maker yet and still like daily coffee. Starbucks makes a decent coffee, but it's inconsistent, which means different baristas make different coffee, even with the same ingredients. I've had home brewed, ground, many times, and it's still all in the preparation. Amazon is okay, not as good as Starbucks, but again, it's who prepares it. Specialty coffee shops I've been to here aren't as good as they are in Texas where I lived. If you try coffee without adding sugar or milk, then you know what a good coffee is. If you add things, it takes away some of the flavor. Just like using steak sauce on steak. You don't need it if it's a good cut, but it still tastes okay with it.

...or like putting whiskey in your water.

Former girlfriend of mine at the Whataburger drive-though, "A regular Whataburger please, hold the patty and tomato, no mayo."

Anyone for lettuce sandwich?

OK Nicky....  maybe it was the roid rage comment that touched a nerve...  I'm not sure, so I apologise for that - I can try to understand how sensitive it can be for someone going through hormonal changes..... so I'll try to be more sensitive.

But for someone who keeps claiming they 'chose not to participate'  you've pulled the wool so firmly over your own else you've and wedged your head so inexplicably deep into the butt-crack of your own delusion -  medical assistance maybe necessary.... :whistling:

   Me?

I have never even seen a steroid before, let alone taken one/any.

I did mean that I haven't engaged in your attempts to start a fight and bicker .

I didn't mean to say that I haven't participated in the thread .

You have been so engrossed in the fight,  that you didn't even notice that no one else was participating .

You've been over in the corner shouting , swinging and punching and its just been you there on your own

Whenever I order a coffee, the first question I get asked is hot or cold?

Hardly surprising considering the climate, the popularity of iced coffee and that they want to get your 'kin order right.

Which is the reason they go to coffee shops.

Yes but coffee shops don't exactly pay salaries that would be attractive to educated Thai's. A coffee can cost half of their daily wage.

What have the salaries of coffee shop staff got to do with Thais going there as customers?   Who cares whether their coffee costs half the wage of the server?

The one thing I miss about the US is the coffee available in convenience stores. Fresh ground beans with multiple flavored creamers in a 20 oz cup. Great for road trips.

of course, you do fred old fellow, of course you do,

I'm as lazy can be but even I grind beans for my drip coffee maker. And yeah I did the 3 in 1 and instant coffee for a long time,  but not much more effort and you too can have brewed coffee.

lol More likely some sad sack seppo or one of them ruskie headbangers.

Part of the problem is that many Thai's just don't understand coffee - its not something they normally drink at home. Regularly evidenced by them giving you sachet's of creamer with a Cappuccino 😁.

I dunno, coffee shops are everywhere now and they're getting really good at it. We had a coffee fair recently--all Thai shops/promoters--and was astounded at the variety and gear.

Really.... you can't even get a coffee order right ????

1) If you don't like it go home

2) learn Thai

3) its your own fault for not making your own coffee

4) life must be boring if you have to start a thread about this

5) Go to a different coffee shop

6) why are you always starting problems

7) you may have been dressed poorly

😎 your accent was too strong

How do you say espresso in Thai genius?

Dude gets the wrong frou frou coffee in  a foreign country.

Four pages of comments.
