I would classify them as rude and ill mannered, rather than pigs

Why? In general, I sit and eat or stay and eat near a table. But sometimes I walk. Why not?

  • Like ice cream? Or steak with knife and fork?

Not sure why you've bothered with this but it's pretty standard Asian manners. Chair and table?

Or cross legged on the floor, all sitting around on a mat.  Though they always make allowances for me and my knees, and offer me a table and chair.

Certain foods would be kinda ridiculous walking around and eating, and most of us know what they are, but fruit is okay, as I've seen people eating fruit countless times, and it's normal. If it bothers you, just look away because people do much worse things in public than eating, as seen quite a few times here on AN. When people sit down and eat, others will still see them shoving things down their gullet.

People sat down usually eat politely with manners and are not in full view .

Unlike rude people who stand in the middle of shopping centres lowering a pizza into their mouth and the cheese dribbling down their chin and then they have a dirty mouth and dirty hands and then go up an escalator with their dirty hands resting on the hand rail .

   Disgusting

Better to eat food on the move than walk around like an idiot hypnotized by a cell phone. At least the moving-munchers walk at a normal speed and watch where they are going.

He takes 11 bites out of that pizza and it remains the same size .

The pizzas size doesn't reduce when he eats it

It's magic!

Or is it possible that someone edited that part of the movie?

It is, they have an abundance of meals on offer, just a ping in the microwave and hey presto gourmet cuisine, they'll even serve it to you on the step!🙂

And he comes out of the pool with every hair perfectly in place.

IMO the OP has issues with walking and chewing gum at the same time.

Hey, could you quit kicking me?    I'm trying to enjoy my beer and those amorphous fried things but you keep inching me off the step!

Nope. Karen is exactly the right word.

I don't but not because I think it's rude. It's just simply unhealthy as when walking you normally need a bit more oxygen compared to sitting and might end up swallowing some of the air or not chewing properly which both is not very good for the stomach.

Have you ever been to one of those festivals which are taking place almost every weekend in Pattaya or anywhere else and seen all those takeaways and snack bars? There are hundreds of them. And how many tables and chairs are there?

Your demand would put all of them out of business.

That being said, it is such a typical Westerner thing to go into foreign countries and tell people how to act while they never would accept any foreigners coming to their countries and telling them what to do.

THAT is rude to me

This originates from the inner attitude some westerners still have, that their country is so great and their society, their beliefs and their way of life is superior to any other on this planet.

They fail to self- reflect for example by asking themselves the question, if so why would I bother coming here?

They fail to understand why they perceive  the people here as friendly and welcoming (because subconsciously they compare them to the place they come from).

So they keep telling people how to act not realizing that by doing so they might one day turn this place into something similar to their home, the place they left for holidays or to live in a better place, which then they would dislike.

But as long as they do it in a forum like this where just a few people might read it and way fewer people if any might act on it, people like me who love Thailand the way it is can rest assured.
