The "ignore" function is a great feature.

Mentioned on a previous thread that I may make more use of the "ignore" feature.

I have selectively put some members on ignore, possibly more to come as the need arises.

It has made AN a much better place to visit already, this is simply my opinion, but seems much more comfortable.

Has anyone else felt it was beneficial?

I only wish it would include all posts and replies to posts by ignore members. The reason I put people on the ignored list is because their posts are not interesting for me and I don't want to waste my time by going in. Just like ads masked as articles or posts. If the name of the op was displayed in the link I probably won't have to use the ignore list. Oh, and please mark ads clearly as it was fine for a short time in the past.

Ignore function only works when you log on.

Logging in is automatic why would you not do that?

I don't have anyone on my ignore list.

There are many here that see things differently to me, I disagree with their comments, I choose to keep scrolling not interact. I wish some here would be more mature, some here have never grown up, they regularly attack me from behind their warrior keyboards, I'd like these guys to add me to their ignore list.

So 2.3k posts of 'good comedy' in 22 days. 555

What comedy?

All it posts is just a load of attention seeking rubbish.

The best thing to do with that idiot would be to just stop responding to it, no emoji or replies.

It would soon stop, but AN would not like the drop in traffic.

I find some of the baiting and subsequent biting quite amusing. What I don't have much time for is members who seem to want to comment on every topic like they have no other life outside this forum

You joined to insult people who are not Trump haters.

"Obviously older than you. What has some other idiot's response to my posts got to do with you"

Thats what I used to think too but I'll admit after over 10 years on here, I now have one member on my ignore list who's jibberish I simply don't understand.

Where how do you ignore thank you for the reply in advance

Hover over the logo of the person you want to add to ignore. a small screen will appear and the ignore function is bottom right.

Been on here over 20 years all I have seen is a general decline and I have found a feature that suits my requirements.

There is no obligation to use it.

Exactly so. There are posters on here whose contributions are, to put it bluntly, grossly irritating.

If I was sat in a bar having a drink and someone close by was waxing forth in an irritating manner, I would pick up my drink and move away. The 'ignore user' list serves the same purpose.

Like you say, there is no obligation to use it.

If you hover over a persons icon and then scroll down, in the bottom right corner you will see the ignore label. Click on that, which takes you to the ignore and then you can choose which parts you wish to ignore.

Yep, at age 78, best I not waste my time on the bad actors here.

I don't mind those who disagree, just those who are insulting.

As a constructive reply to this topic, may I suggest adding an "ignored" score to every members' profile, visible to all. When that score exceeds, let's say 50%, of the membership, remove that members' ability to create new posts. When it exceeds 65%, remove the members' ability to reply, or chuck off the membership list.

I have never had anyone on my ignore list for years, when I get a post from the very odd ignoramas I  cannot annoy them if they are on my ignore list.

Totally.

Life's short and my time is valuable so trawling through dross is something I'd prefer not to do.

How could you see the general decline being reversed?

can you detail what you mean by the general decline?

Yes, the general decline is worldwide, it's not just in Thailand. Mankind in general is declining, the human race is declining and I think if you look at the world in 2025 it's absolute proof that De - evolution has started and we're no longer evolving as a race. Social media is larger to blame, as is Reality TV. But there are many other factors.

Been in decline since 1990. Modern machines have made men weak and women lazy.

Typical leftie twaddle.  Modern technology exposes you to more people then ever before.

Agreed. But, I consider also cocial media to be the most destructive force in contemporary culture today. Children are growing up now in a world where they expect immediate response, gratification and notification. Their brains no longer have time to evolve; they must adapt to change in an instant, and the results are distressing. The difficulties of growing up have never been so public. Social technology provides a platform where things can run wild. Imagine the stress of high school – the competition for popularity, the pressure to fit in, the judgmental nature of social activities – at an accelerated pace. We try to protect our children from wandering off into the darkness on their own, and it turns out they are doing exactly that – online. When they get older and “ready,” we send them off to college, where they face more pressures. But social media has an infamous dark side and the more people share, the more serious this side becomes. As it turns out, living your life online has serious consequences for your self-esteem, your relationships, and your career prospects.

And it is a strong indication of just how bent, warped and misguided contemporary culture and society is, that someone can be considered an idol or celebrity just because they have alot of followers on Tik tok, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.

And for some unknown reason you seem to think that's a good thing.

I thought I answered this post once.  Maybe my post was "suicided"?  Anyway, I'm pretty sure I see no use for the ignore function.  Everyone has something to say, no matter how many times a day they repeat the same nonsense.  If  I had an "ignore" list, I've be guilty of the same thing some of you other people are guilty of: clinging to a failing narrative, no matter what the cost.  You don't want to hear opposing viewpoints, you just want to cling to the Big Lie.  But in doing so, you confine yourself to an echo chamber.  It may be comforting to pretend that you haven't been fooled by propaganda, and so you put people in an "ignore: list.

Indeed, I see no reason for it. No one is compelled to read anything.

"...like they have no other life outside this forum".

Why would that be of any concern to you?   Do you think that you are so much better than them because you spend less time here than they do?
