  • Too many lefties.

As a constructive reply to this topic, may I suggest adding an "ignored" score to every members' profile, visible to all. When that score exceeds, let's say 50%, of the membership, remove that members' ability to create new posts. When it exceeds 65%, remove the members' ability to reply, or chuck off the membership list.

How is that "a constructive" reply?    You seriously think that some members here should have the ability to decide who remains a member?

Logging in is automatic why would you not do that?

Automatic ?

Not with me.

Every time I open the website I am logged in.

Ignore is a tool to use towards members who are serial trolls, stalk and refuse

to adhere to the rules of the forum!

I use it often, especially when they/them throw

personal insults , threats, trolling laughing  emoji's directed at me or others.!

i think I got two pages of the ignored.

I think it help me survive the lightning bolt regime !

Mentioned on a previous thread that I may make more use of the "ignore" feature.

I have selectively put some members on ignore, possibly more to come as the need arises.

It has made AN a much better place to visit already, this is simply my opinion, but seems much more comfortable.

Has anyone else felt it was beneficial?

I did feel it today, just a few minutes ago.

I came across some insanely touchy one.

One light comment on Trump made him absolutely Mad.

Branding me leftist, quoting something I am never referring to.

And in the end. he declared his victory while no one was really battling him...

I felt that kind of idiot will discredit the whole MAGA people.

Deemed overly hysterical and fanatic.

The feature needs to include restrictions !Why does my notifications include they / them on my threads?

Not a good idea! Members come back using different Usernames

I understood from a previous poster that the person being ignored had a list of those ignoring them showing in their profile.

Not "some". "A substantial majority" . Its called democracy. Not many subscribe to it these days, it seems.

"...like they have no other life outside this forum".

Why would that be of any concern to you?   Do you think that you are so much better than them because you spend less time here than they do?

Where do I say it is of concern to me? And where do I say I think I am so much better than them?

Once again you're nitpicking at something that isn't there. Making a fool of yourself again.

Jog on you <deleted>

The content of your previous post and the tone of that comment to which I responded indicated specifically that you are concerned about them!    You imply being superior by asking if they have no other life outside the forum as though you do!

That was me. You hijacked a normal topic with anti Trump rubbish. Trump rants are supposed to go in the politics section. I hope you don't go into 7/11 blaming Trump for food quality!

Jog on you <deleted>

Expressing an opinion on comments made in this forum is not nitpicking, it is the sole purpose of the forum.  And, by the way, telling other members in a profane manner to "jog on you <deleted>" contravenes the forum rules.

Asean Now is not a democratic entity, it is a private business not run by the members and it sure wouldn't be decided who is permitted to post by a mob of anonymous, self-important members who think that they should be given that power!

And for some unknown reason you seem to think that's a good thing.

This was in response to  "Modern technology exposes you to more people then ever before. "

I think the change is not just exposure to more people, but unfiltered exposure to people in different groups than you might have met IRL.

There is no selection going on with respect to who I encounter on AN.

For example, I have been friends with several men from my childhood neighborhood for my whole life.

None of these guys sport neck tattoos, none of them brag about whose ass they can kick, none of them obsess over conspiracy theories, none of them use "DEI" as a substitute for the "N word", none of them think they are experts on science, medicine, technology, economics etc.

To my thinking these are "normal" people.

IRL a lot the AN posters I would simply not encounter as we move in different circles.

This is where the ignore function allows us to select our contacts as we do in real life.

As another poster has said, if you were having a quiet drink in a bar and our recent 100 post a day "person" sat down next to you and started his inane gibbering wouldn't you get up and move to the other end of the bar?

That's what the ignore function allows.

I have searched but never found a way to use it on the phone app. Can do it on the desktop app though.

It's got to be simple so somebody please let me know.

It would be useful to mute the trump ideologues on these forums. He has made it clear who he is and their never ending paeans of starry eyed praise for their savior change no one's opinion.

AN is a different place for me nowadays. Just a couple of weeks in.

I should have used that ignore feature years ago.

You?

I may not be able to see your reply!
