Must pay to do a U-turn!

Featured Replies

So we decided to use a side street to u-turn on a major road. Randomly chose one and went in. Narrow road we were greeted with a boom gate with the sign 20m into it. Wife said the sign says if you want to u-turn must pay. Incidentally just before the boom gate there was a gap that allowed enough space to turn the car around. But a tire was placed in front stopping you from doing it. The lady inside the booth rudely shouted you gotta pay if you want to turn around. This is BS extortion I thought. Got out of the car, pushed the tire aside, turned around and drove off.

It's 20 baht.

There's a boom gate, You entered private property.

What's the issue here?

Those public restrooms are a laugh, instead of paying 5 baht i go around back and pee on the wall

These 10B & 20B stuff really makes life very stressful...

If paying 20 baht is stressful, either sell the car or go home.

Did not enter private property (not unless you pass the gate). Issue is if one chooses to not utilize the private property  to turn around, they’ve made it difficult to do so prior to entering with tires and other blockages. Reversing straight back is impossible. Pretty much forcing you to utilize their services. More like entrapment.

Can’t sell the car and go home? How about rent the car and go home, rent the home and keep the car. So many choices!!!

Take a photo of her placing an object on the roadway and report to police 🤣

it’s like these businesses blocking the road in front of their shops with a chair. Being old and retired, I park down the street from these shops, go in and browse and ask a lot of questions and then tell them “well I would have bought things here, but since you have reserved your parking and I had to walk from down the street I will go buy where parking is free

turn the tables on that “entrepreneur”

Yep - We saw you doing one on YouTube.................

Part of it is on private property, completely legal and a nice little earner. There is a similar road in Rangsit, that goes through private property connecting two main roads and saves a lot of time and hassle, it was 5 or 10 baht the last time I used it. Again, a nice easy stream of passive income for the land owner.

Fair enough if one wishes to enter a private property and pay. Surely if all you want to do is a U-turn and head back the other way it becomes a different story don’t you think? Not to mention making it difficult to u-turn without passing the gate first.
