Exploring deep in Thailand's jungles

Featured Replies

Has anyone here done jungle trekking? I wanted to do some bushwhacking but locals always warn me of evil ghosts or black magic etc. I know it's extremely dangerous if you're underprepared but I still want to try it out. I tried a popular guided jungle tour near an Karenni village and it was just ok, too touristy if you know what I mean. On the other hand finding a serious guide has been difficult as well. The few I've met outside of tourist companies were sketchy to say the least.

I get this is probably a niche topic so another hopefully easier question, does anyone know of specific regions in Thailand that have close relationships to the wilderness? I'm more than willing to relocate for month or so to network and make friends.

If I was younger, as in 40 years ago, I'd willingly join up with you. But I have trouble climbing a tall tree now-a-days.

Good luck.
