Is it convenient for ThaiVisaCentre to use LINE app for initial communication or would you prefer to be contacted via email first?

I reached out to you at LINE, however my email address is not yet on file, but supplied at LINE

The other thing not mentioned is health insurance.

There is an excellent free healthcare system at my home country.

But I don't need any healthcare, I was once or twice inside a hospital for some emergency and nothing chronic.

1 year travel health insurance available online  will cost me around 100 Euro, which covers more than I need.

LINE is preferred, and prioritized

Today there was a large queue because we recently sent out a broadcast. When we do these broadcasts, our team works to respond to everyone within 6 hours. On days with updates, queues can reach into the hundreds, we only send these out 1-2 times a month.

Normally, though, our response time is within 30 minutes after Monday and after 1 PM. Monday mornings are our busiest period, so we recommend avoiding that time if possible.

Our team works 7 days a week, and we always have emergency staff available to handle urgent situations like airport issues.

Do you realize how crazy that comes across.

I came to Thailand at ~58.

Had never spent a night in hospital or ever admitted.

Fast forward another almost 10 years and still never in a hospital.

Then bang. Total hip replacement required. 400k then with setback add another 100k.

Your plan is to live in Thailand with a meager 20k a month is IMO not doable.

Thinking a proper cost/budget plan is in order.

Aside:...you mention possibility of doing some online work.. Surprised no one hasn't suggested a DTV as a visa, option.

You can obtain that in own country eVisa platform.

@NitJune

I think you're getting the cart before the horse a bit. 😉

How about first finding out of you even can get back in by contacting a safe entry company so they can look at the records.

If you can come back (which is still up in the air after reading what actually transpired leading to your deportation) 😮 I'd come back free entry, 60 day visa exempt, then find an agent to get the visa you decide on..

Believe me there are no shortage of agents or agencies that can "push paper" (get you a visa) once you're here and the 90 days you can stay free stamp (60+30 day extension) is plenty of time to find one.

I agree with @DrJack54 and you should look into the 5 year DTV (Destination Thailand Visa) as it might be a better fit for you..

Personally I'd just concentrate on getting back here (if you can), and look for agents, agencies once you hit the ground

Best of luck with it, safe travels..

I stick to the rules and act prudently, so there’s no need for me to get defensive.

National free healthcare here covers for nearly every imaginable scenario. Still, I’m considering purchasing travel insurance to cover initial emergency treatments and repatriation costs for added peace of mind.

RE: "20k" I said our total earnings would amount to ~ +50K in a owned household for two.

I wasn’t unaware of the broader context, but I asked Grok on X for insight. As shown in the attached response, was "40–50% of Thai people of working age (around 22.8–28.5 million out of 57 million) likely live on 20,000 THB or less and thus they are doing the undoable.

I’m aware that, unlike many Thais, I’d face additional expenses such as visa extensions and other costs. Honestly, I wouldn’t even consider living here if my girlfriend didn’t own a house and land and earn significantly more than me.

By the way, where I currently live is nearly twice as expensive as Thailand, yet I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything.

Thanks for the thoughtful advice! I appreciate the suggestion to get the cart in the right order. You’re absolutely right that I need to confirm whether I can re-enter Thailand given my overstay back in 2000.

I’d rather play it safe and avoid any surprises at the airport or issues with a future DTV or retirement visa application.I’ve already reached out to ThaiVisaCentre via LINE to ask if they offer safe entry checks to review my immigration records, but I’m still waiting for their response.

If they don’t provide this service, I’d be grateful for recommendations from anyone here on reliable agents or agencies that can perform these checks to ensure I’m not flagged upon arrival.

I’m definitely not ruling out the 5-year Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) as an option—it sounds like a great fit for a long-term stay. For now, my focus is on confirming re-entry eligibility. Once I’m back in Thailand, I’ll have plenty of time with the 90-day Non-O visa to connect with a reputable agent to handle the visa paperwork.

Any leads on trusted agencies for safe entry checks or personal experiences with them would be a huge help. Thanks again for the support, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for safe travels!

@ThaiVisaCentre does offer this service.  They might be able to do it through Line, but the normal procedure for them is to fill out their TDAC form with your intended entry date, and then on the 2nd page with the options you would select the paid add-on there.  Then they'll use that as the segway into vetting you for the service.

Have you met the TGF ?

I could say yes to dodge the “how can you trust someone online” spiel, but no, we haven’t met in person yet. We’ve got a great connection online, though, and her owning a house and solid income makes the move feel realistic. My main focus right now is clearing that 2000 overstay hurdle

How is knowing this in any way visa-related?

The OP has been given enough information and links to check his eligibility for a visa and extension and the agent options to proceed.

How do you know she owns a house and has a solid income?

A lead into advice for a Plan B.

Plan A currently relies on living Free in tgf home with a monthly pension of 20k

You would do better by assisting the OP.

Read all my posts to him and links to visa options and safe entry services I posted.

Also suggestion of looking at DTV. Better option (possibly) given financial situation.

Thai Visa Service / SWD Transport

They'll check your name/passport and see what's what. They won't fool with you if they can't get you in.

Why when it isn't the case?

I've had a couple of overstays in the past (not at the time of extension application) and have never had a retirement extension denied.

I’m planning a safe entry check via an agent but worry about the one-year visa conversion—might I need to make a statement if asked?
When you converted your visa, was there a form or question about past overstays, and if so, how did you address it? I’d really value your insight!
Thanks

You need to decide what your plan is.

You either obtain Non O (retirement) in own country or enter Thailand visa exempt.

Either way you would be using an agent as currently do not the 800k in Thai bank account nor can you provide that.

There is no one year visa conversion.

Rather a 12 month extension.

In your situation that means an agent.

There won't be a concern with overstay when you (the agent) apply for extension.

An agent has outlined the costs earlier in thread.

There's no such form or question about the past. There IS a form to acknowledge that you know the penalties for (any future) overstay.

Thank you so much,  I am in touch with friendly ThaiVisaCenre.

As an agent has outlined the costs earlier in the thread, I  think it won't be against the TOS of the forum when I post screenshots where the costs are outlined.

Amazingly, even though it is not the cheapest option  they said "however, we can also assist for 3 months non immigrant O + 1 year Retirement visa + Thai bank account ( KTB ) in Thailand when you come with free visa / tourist visa."

I was asking them about "safe entry check" and they replied with "We can assist for VIP service to secure entry at the airport. Can i see all Thai visa stamp to check for the fee with officer "

Sounds pretty much relevant to my question, but maybe I'd ask them again.

Cheers

well, with that info, i would not bother with a visa at all, come in on a visa exempt entry, safe entry via thai visa centre an see how much she wants from you to "live" in her house
otherwise ur F@#ked and cant make it on 20,000/month
NOTE: ur going to need a return or onward ticket  or use one of  the onward ticket sites, if ur planning on entering with a one way ticket

Cont act Thai Visa Centre

They are a reputable company.

I have used them myself.

Very sensible post.

We all need a plan B and Plan B often/always requires $$.

The onward flight is another good point. This is one good company....

Well , if she kicks you out , you could always check in to the guest house that you used before , doubt they will recognise you after 25 years.

As for getting a visa , forget it , save your money for the repatriation flight home..

This does not end well , be prepared and enjoy the ride while it lasts..

and don't forget to like and subscribe.....🤣

I came to Thailand to live late 2009.   I did not know anything about 90 day reporting and it never came up in any conversations until i had been here 6months ,   when i found out i was well over 90days overstay  so i,  went straight to immigration at Chom Chom on the Cambodian border with a friend.   I had to front the chief of immigration and when i told him my story he simply told me to go to the ATM outside and get 20,000bht, which was the maximum fine,  come back and he would fix it,  which he did,  no other problems.  Expensive lesson but never missed a 90 day report since.

Two years ago i had to go back home for family reasons and when i returned my yearly visa had expired by 2days, so i had to start the process all over again.  During that time there was no mention of the overstay years before, so it apparently was not in their computer or deemed unimportant over the length of time  and i had a new passport by then so they would not have picked it up there either.

What future holds is another story. Depending on arrangements for a digital workspace, I am looking forward to bring more income into the household.

You are not allowed to work on a retirement visa.

The visa option 1 mentioned earlier already is 3 months of his budget. One motorcycle accident and he is toast.

She might be a 50 year old guy from the north of Thailand.

Recipe for disaster. Stay in your own country as you have it well there (at least you say so).

90 day report has nothing to do with overstay.
