Not my title. Lifted it from National Geographic of January 1973.

That issue investigates how people have, and do still, live to well over 100. In some cases to over 130. and one chap;150. So what were/are they doing, that we are not?

The common theme in longevity is being attuned to nature.  Plenty of regular exercise. Eat seasonal food. Community living.

What are these people missing out on? Processed foods. Manufactured drugs. Chemical fertilizers used on their crops.

One lady was a tad overweight (by our standards). Smoked. Drank alcohol. And was over 130.

Sorry to hear about your pain. Please PM me.   The people featured in NG all worked until very late; mostly in the field.   Being at one with nature seems to be the common thread.

Superior weapons - as in guns - and the belief that the invaders were superior, did the deeds.   No such thing as infectious diseases. Just made up nonsense to hide away the murders.

Fascinating effort by National Geographic.  The study was 50 years ago. Well worth the WHO paying a visit. Or, perhaps not. They would take their vaxxes with them.

Or visit the Inuits and native Americas......oh no don't ...................we nearly wiped them out with our infectious diseases, to which they had little or no resistance.....or did they all, by pure chance, just happen to start breathing in polluted air at the same time????

Wow! What a freaky coincidence.

Fraid so Will buddy.

Have to think you are superior to wipe out millions. Those Europeans are still at it.

The point of the OP is that people do live long lives. As I say well over 120 years. Obviously their life-style is different to what we have in the west, but the common theme is that the people all work with nature; not against it.

Becoming 110 years old is extremely rare, with only about one in 1,000 people who reach 100 living to see their 110th birthday. This age group, called supercentenarians,is the subject of ongoing study, and current data suggests that becoming 110 remains unlikely for most people despite advances in healthcare

Well as far I did know, very few people becomes older than 110 in the history we know and can prove, and the oldest who lived was 122 years old after a quick search

Im missing something essential here, or?

Wiki eh! NG say different. Their oldest recorded human is 154. And quite recently.

Magnesium! And lots of it. Better still a calcium & Magnesium mix.

No medical advice. Just research for yourself.

Every day at any age is a bonus, when people you know starting crapping out, you appreciate every day a wee bit more  ...

... had a friend killed crossing street when I was in kindergarten

... another died before I was age 10, drowned in pool w/lifeguards

... me, 19 yrs old, another died MVA

... me, 22 yrs old, another in MC accident

... me, 35 yrs, friend committed suicide

... 2 other friends died, don't think they made 45 yrs old

... a friend died, massive heart attack @ 45 ys old

... his wife was meandered couple years later

... his brother died about 30 yrs old, we were same age

... his other brother died before 50 yrs old, hit & run crossing street

... another friend OD'd, before 30 yrs old

... cousin committed suicide at 22 yrs old

... another cousin killed MVA, at 19 yrs old

All friends I grew up with, played with, socialized daily or weekly.  Somehow, I'm still kicking, knocking on 71.   Everyday has been a gift.

Wow, that's a crap F'g list, and those just off the top of my head.  I'm scared to answer the phone if my brother calls me :cheesy:

He actually called me one time, and I answered "Who died now ?"   ... His wife :cheesy:

Note to self ... don't answer the phone saying ... "who died now?" :coffee1:

i went back to sweden in the hope of getting surgery, but the doctors dont want, and even lie about the MRI result to avoid it

Plain and simple, some can do many things wrong all their lives and live to over 100, while others can do most everything right and pass at 50. That's plain luck. Genetics plays a role, but what you eat, and how much you move is how most live to be 100 or more. The Blue Zone people all share the same things as far as diet and moving, along with keeping stress as low as possible. Not much meat, more fish than meat, grains and root and mixed veggies, fruits, nuts and seeds, a little red wine, no smoking. Nothing to do with vitamins or minerals, as you'll get all you need with that lifestyle.

Good you are still with us bro.

I'm a fair few years older than your good self.

Not taken any medicine what-so-ever since late 2019. Eat sensibly. Do some work every day. Have a daily yoga routine. Drink lots of water, and at least half a litre with some limes in it each day.

My advice to you Sir. Every day, kick off yer shoes, take off yer shirt and go for along walk in the sun. And if you have a forest near by, make use of it.

If you accept an old article in National Geographic as proof, then I have even better proof of much older people; most notable Noah that lived to be 950 years:

https://biblehub.com/genesis/9-29.htm

Nah, I guess that you, like me, want real proof.

''The phrase "Every day over 100 is a bonus" likely refers to the longevity research highlighted by National Geographic, which focuses on "blue zones," areas where people live to be 100 at extraordinary rates. It connects to the idea that reaching 100 years is an achievement, and every additional day is a "bonus" to be celebrated. Key factors for long life in these zones, as featured in articles by National Geographic, include a 90–100% plant-based diet, moderate wine consumption, regular physical activity, and a strong social or spiritual connection.''

Indeed!

Evidence, not proof. After reviewing the evidence, I'll decide what I regard as truth.

In the particular issue, it says that some of the 120+ people are sexually active. Lot to be said for taking herbs with yer grub.
