  • I always get confused whether you're supposed to add the milk to the cereal or to the cardboard box.

Bring a sweeping brush!

Big C Extra have:

Fiamma Baked Beans in Tomato Sauce at half price; 38 baht. A good alternative to the Chinese beans from an American brand.

d'aucy Red Kidney Beans also 38 baht.

Crostini for soup and salads 10 baht

Their own brand Extra Virgin Oil 1 litre 485 baht

Friendship has the Chinese American Beans on a BOGOF basis. 69 baht I think.

Westgold Salted/Unsalted Butter 250 grams 80 baht

Do they have olive groves in Thailand or are they rebottling something that came from a tank, or relabelling heaven knows what. Been a lot of dubious olive oils in the world over the years, money to be made there.

Do you think the major brands are any different? The name brands with Italian sounding names that aren't actually Italian, source their oil from all around the world and then blend it. You can choose to pay 700 baht for that if you like or 485 baht. Up to you.

Go for the Genco Pura Olive Oil Company, from the Corleone family presses!

The so-called "Heinz Chinese Baked Beans" are actually made in the UK or USA and imported into China and relabled

Down Pattaya way, Foodmart has them for B40, and they taste exactly like the UK ones

@Seppius Friendship is 'Pattaya way' and 2 for 69 baht. Foodmart is Jomtien and slightly more expensive at 40 baht, as you say.

Too late to edit, but sorry I am wrong, went by Perplexity AI, told me that info, it's wrong

They are made there

Has anyone else noticed that the '2 for 1' and similar sub-menus are missing from the Lotus's website? Used to be near the top but now nowhere to be seen 🤔

Are they available at Big C @jacko45k, keeping in mind the topic title?

Specifically what do you ask of?

Deals from memory over the past few days:

Carrefour Crunchy Chocolate Caramel Cereal Muesli 500gr 65 baht, down from 219.

Hahne Bircher Muesli Traditional 375gr 83 baht

CARREFOUR EXTRA Huile D'olive Vierge Extra 500 ml. 249 baht or thereabouts, down from 449.

Fiamma Black Beans 400gr 38 baht.

Carrefour Classic Cereal bars Cacahuètes - Pindas 125gr 6 bars. 30 baht

Carrefour Classic Cereal bars Chocolat Noix de Coco 125gr 6 bars. 38 baht

There were others, but were mostly already sold out. The ones listed are likely still available, if you know where to look.

Worth noting that, other than the EVOO, all of these prices are cheaper than they are in Europe and beyond. So grab 'em whilst you can.

Soumen, or somen, is a very thin Japanese wheat flour noodle, typically served cold during the summer, often with a dipping sauce and various toppings like cucumber, egg, or scallions. They are made by stretching oil-coated dough into thin strands and are known for their light, refreshing taste, making them a popular way to cool down in hot weather.

That Westgold butter promotion has been very good. it's one of the best butters you can buy here IMHO at just about half price, grass fed from New Zealand, I buy two every time I go in there, my fridge is stacked.

Can't trust the BIG C I visit often in BK.

You'll find the exact same product in different parts of the store and sometimes they're priced differently. Sometimes items are placed above the wrong prices too. Your buy 1 get 1 free might not actually be that.

I've noticed that in Big C Extra here, often they ring up a different price, i query it, sometimes offer finished

You need to make sure the barcode on the offer card, matches the barcode on the product. New batches of the same product, can have a different barcode.

Don't think I have seen any barcode readers in there since the refurbishment got going.
