How often do you go to the Pub?

Featured Replies

and no, I don't mean this one, I mean an actual Pub.

That has beer on tap etc..

I usually go to a real pub regularly, especially during the holidays (Christmas/new year) etc..

Ive just had a hot chick in my room!   Going for a side order of LB tonight.   Eric.

  • Agree, siting in a 'pub' is about as boring as it gets.  Ok if a social, or for us, always a munch and leave.   Too many outdoor scenic places to sit & sip vs inside any pub, bar.   Some

Not often enough.😢

awww.

I feel for you.

Don't worry, I'll get you a pint.

Eric.

Never, of late and the past 15 years, just maybe 2 times, popped into ChitBeer @ Ko Kret, and last times I had a few pints pulled.  Probably 10 yrs ago, maybe.

Use to go weekly, as the Irish Clock @ Udon Thani was a regular weekly stop for me pre 2010.  Changed management team, opening their own elsewhere, so I stopped going.  Went to the Clock more for the conversation than the beer, along with the location in expat ghetto nightlife area.

Daughter, all of 12 yrs old, started to realize the meat pies & beer weren't the main attraction in the area, when a massage shop opened next door.

For a drink in a bar ?- around 1985  - although I do remember sitting in what is now "hooters" opposite Nana plaza in Bangkok, with a coke, watching the cabaret that is Soi 4, back in 2003

There are no "pubs/bars" in my neck of the woods, they are mostly restaurants that serve beer etc. Been in those for the food, but that's all.

What I will say is service levels have dropped drastically since 2014.

Pre coup the service was mostly good to very good in Thailand - now it is almost non existent.

Smartphones play a major role in this too. They should banned for staff that work in hospitality imo.

Wonder if I have seen you there. We go a few times in the cool season. Walk the long way around the island, then stop about 3pm or so for a couple of nice IPA's, then head out around sunset. Nice afternoon.

Most Fridays when out for a meal with my pal.

2x pubs, 1 small beer in each, and a restaurant for a meal and soft drink.

2 small beers is about my limit these days as a 10Km drive home.

That was a nice perch in the afternoon, and good prices.  Then the one bar in the plaza had 2 for 1 specials in the afternoon, and good for watching the circus performers prepping for the evening show :cheesy:

Only been on soi 4 (Nana Plaza) twice at night, and that was more than enough.

Something I've never enjoyed, any where at any time in my life.  Just spend enough time in one to eat & leave, and that was rare, days past.

It's more fun when your wife isn't with you ..........

I quite like watching passing moat activity from rooftop bars in CM.

The rats running around frightening the female tourists is always entertaining.

...for a pint or a bit of fisty cuffs??

or both?

Eric.

Those days are in the past.  They were fun, but I prefer life in the slow lane of rural Thailand.  No pubs out here.

Choosing your sipping & surfing the internet venues ...

You could uphold the fine British tradition of a skinful of booze, start a fight, then, win or lose, go for a curry.

I had to leave a thread yesterday due to being called names. Some here still think they are in the school playground, never grown up.

She prefers Temple and Amphur parties where she can drink with monks, police and government officials.

I prefer not to go out with her, Thai way .... men go out alone, women stay mostly at home.

Hopefully, it's the normal way for Thai marriages.

Nope. Nowadays any one of those three would probably kill me.
