which pub and where?

Eric.

In the same pub that advertises free beer tomorrow.

Love the expats on this forum that are so concerned about tourists.  Omg I’m outraged that Joe Bloggs will change his holiday plans for this.

There's no problem buying a beer from the 711 after 2pm. You just have to wait until 5pm 🙃

So apparently this silly afternoon booze ban has now been lifted.

I tried buying a cold beer today at my local 7/11 just after 2pm and was refused.

Anyone know what's going on here?

Eric.

The changes are for resturaunts and entertainment spots not retail outlets.

Restaurants already serve booze after 2pm in most tourist heavy areas.

So just a face saving exercise, yeh?

It's a suggestion for lifting the ban, nothing has changed yet – the non-alcoholic organizations are against it – i.e., you still need to hoard your beers for 2pm-5pm before 5pm...

...what do they need 15 days for??

Eric.

proposed to start December 1 for 6 months trial period.

But I can already rock up at almost any restaurant or bar in a tourist area at 14:01 and buy a pint..

Have been doing that for years.

Eric.

Went to a restaurant in Kanchanaburi last week. The lady on the door welcoming customers was explaining to everyone that entered that they were not allowed to serve alcohol between 2pm and 5pm. Not sure if alcohol consumption was also banned during those hours as I wasn't drinking anyway.

Public consultation. The ban will be lifted in early December for a 6-month trial

Yeah, in the meantime, you can try to 13.59. See problem solved!

Why do you need to know - you can't change it.

And what does it matter? It'll come soon enough - this is Thailand..... be patient.
