February 18Feb 18 We have a saying in America .. "Eff around and find out." Sorry he died, but .. how stupid can you be? The girl clearly does not want you .. and you threaten her with a knife .. in front of her brother? Neighbors heard his threats for "months". So instead of moving on, he chose to stay and be abusive. He is lucky the Myanmar guys and brother did not beat his azz weeks before.

What a nutter, sam nam naaa.Have to think the Myanmar guys will end up getting shipped back home. Sweep this bit under the rug ASAP.They're foreigners...thus they will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. As they should be (even though the American was being a jerk...and shouldn't have gone there with a knife).

I am also speculating (having lived in Thailand 11 years and seen some odd court matters) that it will be easier to ship the Burmese back to Myanmar and call it a day.It doesn't seem like anyone is stepping up for the American guy to say wrongful death so swept under the rug it goes. TIT

Asian lack of self control along with his own lack of self control and poor choices has led to his death. Might sound a bit harsh but IMHO pretty accurate.I don't think self defence would stick in this case, manslaughter maybe. The American was very stupid, and the murmese might be in the slammer for 20 years

TITNonsense. They're FOREIGNERS and moreover, from a poor country, so they'll probably receive the death penalty. Does Koh Tao ring a bell for you?

Does Koh Tao ring a bell for you?Koh Tao was completely different. The Myanmar nationals there were the fall guys for influential Thai, Ko Tao families. They were "railroaded".The American was in the wrong and took a beating. No influential Thai families involved, completely different circumstances than the Koh Tao fiasco.
February 20Feb 20 Why is it ALWAYS americans? Sounds like the typical american attitude. When their emotions are hurt, they have to try and kill people. Usually, their cowardly culture relies on guns, because they are too scared to use their fists. Eliminate the americans and Pattaya will be a better place.
