Satun's beach to rival Pattaya

SATUN: -- The fame of Pattaya as a seaside resort could one day be eclipsed by the little-known beach of Pak Bara in the southern province of Satun, where the municipal authorities are trying to set the beach up as a rival to some of the most popular tourist resorts in the country.

La-ngu district, where the beach is based, is already blessed with a range of tourist attractions, whether the Koh Petra National Marine Park, or the famed Turatao Marine Park.

But the municipal authorities in tambon Kamphaeng district want more, and today local mayor Mr. Samrit Liengprasit unveiled plans to upgrade the area.

Basing its scheme on one successfully employed by one of the leading businessmen in neighbouring Trang Province, La-ngu district will promote its local products, particularly its fresh seafood and Chinese noodles.

Mr. Samrit expressed hope that Pak Bara, one of the most popular beaches in the district, could one day achieve the same fame as Pattaya, or Bang Saen.

The district is also endeavouring to generate more local employment and to provide better educational opportunities for its residents, with a particular focus on the One Tambon One Product (OTOP) scheme.

This is totally a nonsense,

There is the wide Samila Beach in Songkhla and it is good developed already.

Near from Hadyai City and not far to the Hadyai Airport, and only 45 minutes to drive for a visa-run. Plenty of accomodation there from top class hotels down to cheap guest houses....
