Here's my little rust bucket. This was when I first bought it.

I have now put decambered leaf springs on and AVO adjustable shocks and Hi-Spec 4 pots.

Still looking for the right Pinto to drop in (its an auto atm too so big tunnel for 5speeder) Hopefully will look like this :

My old mk2 from a few years back, had a peppy 1600 with a single box exhaust - I think my ears are still ringing EVEN now!!!.

And a mk1 escort I saw when we went to Chiang Mai :dbc8re2.jpg

Are there many mk1 and mk2's in Thailand? Just humming and harring whether to export my car. Seems silly for the expense and especially if there are more in Thailand than here in UK??

Dan.

Forget about importing a car here. Its a non starter.virtually impossible.

On the brighter side there are some ford escorts here mk1 2dr & 4dr and mk2 escort 4dr only, there are some 2dr mk2s in malayasia.

By my own estimates there is roughly 100 or so 2 dr mk1s left in thailand.

Anglias, mk1 mk2 mk3 mk4 cortinas & Transits have all been spotted,in fact i spotted 2 mk3 LWB twin wheel ex securicor style transits laid up in a garden at silom coupe a of days ago.Excellenent Rally tow/service vehicles at worst me reckons.

If anyones got more info on these post it up.

Wow,

Great to see the Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts here. The Aussie Fords look awesome too.

My money pits in the UK were a 1970 Triumph Spitfire and a Porsche 944 Turbo. Both were reliable cars but keeping them in good shape was pricey.

Not surprised to hear that...Porsches are definitely high maintenance. My parents had a secondhand 911 and I think the rear tires only lasted about 24,000 kms :o A family friend who used to have a Porsche service shop was able to tweak the suspension/alignment a bit so the tires wore a little slower.

Those old Mustangs and Ford Falcons are cool cars. Mel Gibson drove a modified Falcon in the movie "Mad Max II", which was called "The Road Warrior" in the States. His had a supercharger which could be turned on/off with a switch on the shifter. I wonder if anybody has ever fitted those old cars with a 5-speed. It's nice to have that overdrive gear while going down the highway; takes strain off the engine and saves fuel.
