Govt to aim at building mass support in quelling southern violence

BANGKOK: -- Violence in the Deep South has the economic, cultural and education dimensions which are beyond the measures being carried out by the military and the police, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said in an interview with Channel 7.

The government intends to fill in the gap left out by the peace-keeping forces, Abhisit said.

He said he will designate the agency to ensure justice and strategic coordination prevailing over the strife-torn areas.

The "government"? If the current plight of government representatives ( public health workers, teachers and civil servants) is any indication, he will need to provide full body armour and bodyguards, because those poor souls are getting murdered, beaten, kidnapped and indtimidated at a rather high rate. There is a shortage of some of these government types for the simple reason that they want to live. Maybe he can get some of the brave folks of PAD to come and volunteer to work in the south?

I saw a heart rendering programme on the systematic killing of teachers in the South. The young people being killed has to stopped and a structured protectionism put in place. The People have been infiltrated, by subversive elements........... any answer is emotive, I just wish that the people in the South of Thailand were not in this awful position............. :o
