I need to buy some 2/3mm thick perspex sheets, does any TV member know where I can purchase my requirement? Plastic will work for me aswell.

Similar to plastic but different molecular structure but nearly "same same".

Their is a big sign maker, [Neon and Sign Boxes], end of Second Rd leaving Pattaya going south just after the fork before the the over pass on the right hand side, maybe able to help you out particularly if you are looking for off-cuts.

In Thailand referred to as acrylic.

3mm sheets about 4 x 8 ft Normally available at around TH B 1,300

Far cheaper is what we call 'future board' at about THB 250 for the same size.

acrylic is the real name ( albeit abbreviation ) for the material

it's classified as a type of thermoplastic ( can be reshaped when hot and supple - goes stiff when cooled down again in the new shape)

in the UK it is often referred to as perspex but this is simply a trade name given by ICI the manufacturers there

here it is known as acrylic ( in thai same word) and is easy to find as 2 or 3 mm thicknesses in small pieces but more rarely as in the original 4 by 8 ft sheet size

white is cheapest and coloured ones more expensive transparent the most expensive

all sign makers have it

useful thai words-

paen -- classifier for sheet

sai- transparent

sii followed by colour for coloured

khwam naa- thickness

sam min - 3 mm

ao paen acrylic song paen sii faa naa 3 min noi- i want 2 sheets of blue 3mm thick acrylic
