Thais Going To Laos

Recommended Posts

My Thai wife & I took our Thai nephew across at Nong Khai some years back and he got a Border Pass OK. He's adopted so need to be sure to take along the Thai official adoption papers. Use the 7-year old's birth certificate. The kid's Thai parents going along with you too?

FYI, note, we did this at Nong Khai, and the Thai Border Pass is good for three days-two nights in Laos, per the Lao rule. Also restricted to the Vientiane area, not upcountry, like Vang Vieng. I don't know what the Lao rules are for a Chong Mek crossing to Champasak, it's further than that just to Pakse. Best to check first (but with whom?),

Hi spacemand

Thai kids (under the age to have an ID) are attached to the paperwork of a parent. (or even just an adult Thai?? -- I dont know)

We crossed at Chong Mek 6 months ago and our daughter (19) had forgotten to bring her I.D:( . Fortunately a little discussion and she was allowed through on her mothers paperwork. (helpful--no?)

Anyway the point I make is that on this occasion they were very accommodating.

If the parent is present you shall certainly have no problem.
