"O-Visa"

Recommended Posts

As known, if married to a Thai-National, one can apply for an "O". The applicant must show that he calls 400'000 Bht his own. But the question is this:

- Must the 400'000 Bht be strictly in form of cash in a Thai-Bank-Account, or can it be in form of Stocks, Bonds, etc in a Bank outside of Thailand and in a foreign currency. = Just as long as the Baht-Value of the investement reflects the minimum of 400'000 Bht required?

I think this could be of interest to a lot of other Farangs. Thanks & cheers.

No. To apply for a non-immigrant visa category "O" it is not necessary to show evidence of 400,000 Baht in a bank account. Some consulates in the region, eg in Kuala Lumpur, want to see the equivalent of 100k Baht with an application for a multiple-entry non-O visa to visit family.

As said money in the bank is not normally needed to apply for an O Visa.

But I do not think you are asking about an O Visa.

I think you are asking about a Twelve Month Extension of Your Permission to Stay in the Kingdom.

If you are.

400,000 Baht must be in a Thai bank. If in another currency it would probably be accepted.

If using the 40,000 Baht monthly income it would be whatever your Embassy will accept.
