Burger King Recalls 'sacrilegious' Desserts

Burger King recalls 'sacrilegious' desserts

THE fast-food chain, Burger King, is withdrawing its ice-cream cones after the lid of the dessert offended a Muslim.

The man claimed the design resembled the Arabic inscription for Allah, and branded it sacrilegious, threatening a "jihad".

The chain is being forced to spend thousands of pounds redesigning the lid with backing from The Muslim Council of Britain. It apologised and said: "The design simply represents a spinning ice-cream cone."

The offending lid was spotted in a branch in Park Royal last week by business development manager Rashad Akhtar, 27, of High Wycombe.

He was not satisfied by the decision to withdraw the cones and has called on Muslims to boycott Burger King. He said: "This is my jihad. How can you say it is a spinning swirl? If you spin it one way to the right you are offending Muslims."

A Muslim Council spokesman said: "We commend the sensitive and prompt action that Burger King has taken."

Whats the big problem? You wanna throw him out the country for that? Whats he done thats so wrong?

I think its funny myself, and I think chuck all the muslim haters out of the UK would be a good start to making it a better country.

All that '<deleted> off to your own country' crap, its comments like that and people like that that made me wanna leave the UK, pathetic.

Did y'all hear the muslims want to change the British flag too?

Jing, jing - just read about it today - seems they are 'offended' by it in some manner.

I love it... :o

Muslims Offended by English Flag

A poll at CNN asks, “Is it time for England to change its national flag?”

Why in the world would such a thing even be considered?

To avoid offending ... you know who: Race fears spark St. George ban.

Chris Doyle, director of the Council for the Advancement of Arab-British Understanding, said Tuesday the red cross was an insensitive reminder of the Crusades.

“A lot of Muslims and Arabs view the Crusades as a bloody episode in our history,” he told CNN. “They see those campaigns as Christendom launching a brutal holy war against Islam.

“Muslim or Arab prisoners could take umbrage if staff wore a red cross badge. It’s also got associations with the far-right. Prison officers should be seen to be neutral.”

Doyle added that it was now time for England to find a new flag and a patron saint who is “not associated with our bloody past and one we can all identify with

The pins showing the English flag -- which has often raised hackles due to its connection with the Crusades of the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries -- could be "misconstrued," Chief Inspector of Prisons Anne Owers said in a section on race in a report on a jail in the northern English city of Wakefield.

Anne Owers doesn't sound very Muslim to me dude.

In fact wheres the bit in that article where it says Muslims want to change the flag? :o

Find it for me Boon Mee, it would be much appreciated. :D

has called on Muslims to boycott Burger King.

Well... that'll show them...because of course, all the meat in Burger King is halal.. :o

BKK- the point is why should we change in our country? If I were Burger King I'd told the bastard to <deleted> off. It's time we start putting our foot down. Go to an Islamic country like Iran and do the same and see what happens? :D The old addage - when in Rome do as the Romans do - unfortunately we are letting every cu*t who comes here get their way at the expense of the country. You are english first and if don't like the way we do things then - go <deleted> off elsewhere. I expect no less if I am living in another country - I adopt the host countries ways.

The Muslim world obviously has a lotta time on their hands ( when not otherwise busy with their hands )

Perhaps its his country as well, was the dude born in the UK, coz if so thats English by my book.

Its Burger King for christs sakes, not our country, hes isn't starting a war against the government is he, its a f.ucking fast food chain for gods sake, a non English one at that.

So the guy makes a complaint, its a stupid one no doubt and then you got people like daleyboy and yourself screaming

go <deleted> off elsewhere
Your precisely the kind of people we dont need in these troubled times. Are you really upset that Burger King is getting a bashing? Or do you feel better screaming in a mob?
I expect no less if I am living in another country - I adopt the host countries ways.

Prostitution is illegal in Thailand, do you not involve yourself in that too when your bouncing some 18 yr old on your lap in Patters?

You are english first and if don't like the way we do things then - go <deleted> off elsewhere. I expect no less if I am living in another country - I adopt the host countries ways.

In fact the UK promotes religious freedom and a certain amount of freedom of speech, so you should f.uck off to some country where they don't have that. People like you are not welcome in England as far as I am concerned as you don't stand up for that freedom that we English believe in.

Yes the guy is overly PC, yes hes no doubt a nob end, but that is no excuse for people like you to tell him to f.uck off to another country. It is as much his England as it yours!

Burger King is just an example - I'm more upset Burger King gave in to this stupidity.

Yes- he maybe be English point taken, however you are English first and muslim second - if you don't like it go to a muslim country and live. (harsh, but faire) I counter its people like YOU who rationalize its alright to let these bastards have their way which is the problem in these troubled times.

Prostituion is illegal in Thailand, do you not involve yourself in that too? Hypocrite.

BKK - I'm happily attached for sometime now and I'd say my gf would have something to say about that as well as I do. :o

BTW no worries I'd happily drink a few pints with you any day!!! :D

BKK - bit of paradox matey!!! I have right to free speech, so I can tell anyone to <deleted> off elsewhere, so now you are saying I'm not welcome in me own country. Who's the hypocrite now?? :o:D

PS. dont get your knickers in a twist!!! :D

Yeah soz about the prostitution crack, out of place here and of course I dont know your situation.

However.......

Can't you be English and Muslim at the same time? I know plenty of them.

I'm the problem, because I dont give a sh1t that this guy has made a ridiculous complaint about burger king?

You're the problem because you don't know how to seperate a muslim making a complaint about burger king from a Muslim preaching hate or our country or bombing us.

But then again they are all

bastards
and
cu*t who comes here get their way at the expense of the country
that should
go <deleted> off elsewhere
if they
don't like the way we do things

Engage your brain and treat the people as seperate individuals before you spout of any more of you religion hating spite.

A cool head is needed not a mob who thinks they are all bastards.

totster :D

Dude the boycott is against ice cream. :D

Well... I hope it was killed in the proper way then... :D

The point is... people are not likely to go there just for the Ice Cream...

totster :D

I counter its people like YOU who rationalize its alright to let these bastards have their way which is the problem in these troubled times.

Yes I rationalize its ok for an English man to make a complaint against a fast food chain based on whatever ridiculous reason he wants. I find that pretty funny. :o

I don't think we should be ganging up to throw him out of the country just yet. :D

BTW my best mate is Iranian!!! :o If you want comedy have dinner with them - his family fled from Iran and well needless to say they have the same view points I have and they are quite vocal about it. (Religious Police/Clerics are tops on their list of people they would love to eliminate)

Yes - I judge all people individually - when I refer to bastards/cu*ts I am referring to similar situations I have experienced or my mates. Honestly you don't think the lad is right wan*er for threatening a jihad on burger king? The bizzare thing is - he's dead serious.

BKK - no worries, no offense taken in regards to my gf. I'm thicked skinned and I don't get upset too easy.

Ah dude, I should clear something up, weren't calling your gf a prozzy, I thought you was a single man in Patters. :D

I haven't got a clue why your talking about Iranians now though, and if their opinion is the same as yours then I feel sorry for them too. I can't give them extra 'agreement points' coz they're Iranian dude.

Yeah the guys either a <deleted> or having a laugh or got some other reason going for his attack on Burger King. I dont think that means we can extradite him just yet though. :D

I think you should work out the difference between dangerous muslims and <deleted> who are muslims though before you start spouting sh1t, your just fuelling the problems. :o

Tots, I've said its ridiculous several times, read my posts. But being a silly fool and being a hateful fool is two different things, personally I would rather know the silly fool.

BKK - who said I am lumping the dangerous radicals with these wank*rs?

The whole jist of this is simple... any person who is living/working should be true to the country they are in. If you are a citizen - that should hold true. Country first and foremost.

I think religion is starting to be used as reasons to gain advantage or preference. I just think its wrong.

Terrorism is an entire different story.... :D

Cheers for the debate I love a good exercise in reason whether I disagree with your or not. :D

PS. BKK shouldnt you be going to the apology thread? :D:o

Lol, I missed this one. Your right, telling a fast food company they have dodgy packaging and telling people to f.uck off to another country is precisely the same thing, my mistake. Of course your speech incites racial and religious hatred so I spose some people should just be told to shut up for the sake of common sense. :D

I love a good debate too Brit, but suns coming up in Bkk so may have to leave you soon.

I think your argument falls apart with this statement.

The whole jist of this is simple... any person who is living/working should be true to the country they are in. If you are a citizen - that should hold true. Country first and foremost.

I don't understand why a complaint about an American fast food company's packaging is against the UK? I don't understand how you think that means he is suddenly not loyal to England?

Being a citizen of England does not mean you have to not compalin against Burger King, I mean I've moaned about their dodgy burgers many a time does that mean I am a traitor to England?

Here's another one for you.... :o

Pig Brother is watching you

Novelty pig calendars and toys have been banned from Council offices in Dudley, West Midlands, in case they offend Muslim staff.

The ruthless extermination of what are described as “pig-related items” came after a Muslim worker complained about the council distributing pig-shaped stress relievers (yes, I know, I’m losing the plot as well) to staff. Now toys, porcelain figures, calendars and even a tissue box featuring Winnie the Poo’s pal Piglet have been banished from offices.

Councillor Mahbubur Rahman supported the ban, saying: “It’s a tolerance of other people’s beliefs”. But that’s exactly what it isn’t. A tolerance of other people’s beliefs is Muslims and members of other religious minorities understanding and accepting that they are now citizens of the United Kingdom, where the dominant religion is Christianity. And as Christians have no such problem with “pig-related items”, perhaps the whining busy-bodies ought to respect our beliefs for once, instead of inflicting their intolerance on all who come into contact with them.

Anyway, where would Mrs B be if she wasn’t able to raid my piggy bank in advance of her shopping trips?

http://sirdodger.homestead.com/Comment.html

I agree Brit, ridiculous. And if you and Daleyboy had said "idiot people" instead of 'throw them out of the f.ucking country' then I would have whole heartedly agreed with you, but both of your reactions were way way way over the top.

I suppose at the end of the day I have more a problem with people like yourselves than some guy whos got a bee in his bonnet over pigs and burger king.
