Riveting News On Channel 7 Tonight

Featured Replies

First item on this wonderful station was: "Man <deleted>.cks Pig". Apparently his wife wouldn't let him <deleted>.ck her, so he turned to the pig. Lots of pictures of the pig, of people looking at the pig and of one elderly lady laughing (probably the wife). Don't know if there were any pictures of the man. More translations from my g/f: he was going to have a go with another pig, but someone called the police. :o

Third story: A woman falls/jumps from a 3 or 4 story building (in Chonburi, I think). Lots of pictures of body lying on its back, with head lying in dark puddle - almost certainly blood. One final picture of young child (about 3 or 4, female) sitting next to corpse with arm around head of corpse.

Excellent reporting Channel 7. Keep it up. One day you'll rise to the level of scumbags.

Who owns Channel 7?

From my understanding, television stations generally target the mentality of their demographic audience :o

Television in LOS

Currently there are seven television stations operating in Thailand.

Among them there is one pay TV : UBC.

The others are :

Channel 3 : private – concession from Mass Communication Organisation of Thailand.

Channel 5 : owned and operated by the military;

Channel 7 : private franchise concession from the military;

Channel 9 : Mass Communication Organisation of Thailand;

Channel 11 : belongs to the government;

iTV : private - concession of the Prime Minister Office.

This company belongs to the Prime Minister Shin Corp (which owns the mobile operator AIS, and operates the Thai satellite system named Thaicom). :D

Channel 3 and Channel 9 share the same network. Channel 5 and Channel 7 share the same network. Channel 11 has its own network. iTV has its own network.

An industrial source said that all current broadcasters are closely linked to the government.

So broadcasting is government and government is broadcasting.

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) which was set up was supposed to be independent, but cannot really be independent because of the broadcasters relationship with the government.

There are also 200 AM and 284 FM radio broadcasting stations in Thailand, all owned by government agencies and state enterprises.

Some of them are leased to private enterprises. :D

You mean most of the country then... :D
