About time we got some culture into Bedlam... :o

Taoism: shit happens

Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit

Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah

Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it

Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us?

Atheism: I don't believe this shit

He's clearly quite talented and has a lovely eye.

Why don't you just put up a web site with a nice selection and your e-mail address and publicise his work a bit (here and elsewhere) and see what happens?

How many digital images do you have?

Just some ideas but more specifically, a website offering paintings done on comission but with a focus on the guy himself, his character as a Thai man, his job...selling the painter as much as the paintings.

You would use ebay to pull in traffic, not from an ebay store but by making regular minimum level auctions for prints or thai related paintings etc. Selling high ticket items like paintings at 10k a pop means you don't need daily leads.

Is there anyone else doing this yet? The fact he is Thai is a big plus for this kind of work. I'm just not sure 10k is enough, perceived value and all that.

The website could be personable with a thai word, to appeal to the ever growing internet body of farangs that are semi thai-culture-literate.

Get him mentioned by stickman, etc. I'd be happy to publish some details on one of my thai related sites too..drop me a pm if you decide its all worth a try.

Here's another offering. ' Terracotta Pots from Ko Kret'. He also handmade the frame.

This is an ambitious one; vis a visa detail, light and shade. He's done it okay. He gave it to me as a present last weekend, which is nice ! It hangs behind our bar.

Blake 7 takes delivery of his triptych tomorrow. Hope he likes it. An rendition from another artist that I think is not as good as his version, is selling for 6 times the price in Emporium! (THB 60,000 - golly)

Absolutely superb attention to detail.

He is very talented and (rightly so) you are obviously proud of his works. :D

I'd like to retract my earlier comments about cost... as we all know, you get what you pay for, and this man's work is clearly above the norm.

I am impressed.

Culture?...Culture?

You mean the 'Redneck Thread' ain't cultural? :D

Excellent work your father-in-law does, Moog.

Good on you for initiating this thread. :D

Due to his penchant for our smaller fellow creatures, Penzman might be interested in procuring that painting for the below feature :o :

:D

I feel ashamed about my quip.

He is very good.

TM, what's with the Israeli flag Avatar? You want this forum to be a terrorist target? :o

The moog: Great paintings.

look again G, its not an israeli flag. This is an israeli flag:

Moog, that pot painting is terrific! Give us a link to more!!! (hint: post it in the TV members photo gallery and then link it here)

:o

You mean a red "x" with the writing "user posted image"? Pretty original for a flag, I agree, but not very representable, is it?

I can see the flag ~G~ :o

Sorry to go way :o here, but I checked Thomas_Merton's avatar again and it seems acccurate enough?!

sbk, what am I missing? :D:D

You must not be seeing the yin yang symbol, the cross, and the crescent besides the star of david. I believe his avatar is supposed to be representing all major religions.

Oh that's his old Avatar, he changed it since then to the Israeli flag.

I must say I was surprised of your remark, as I did spend some time in Israel (just the first 27 years of my life), I guess I know how the flag looks like :D

:D Still looks the same to me.

I see any flag as a sign of nationalism, one of the brainwash-style means a state is using to enforce discipline and loyalty to its institutions, and to create a herdlike separation between "us" and "them".

I can respect that point of view if it is consistently held.

However, in my experience – and I am not accusing you – it very rarely is.

I just feel that the rejection of this flag symbolises a denial of the sacrifices friends, family and forefathers have made (and also will come to make) to achieve peace for a land for which there is no alternative.

And is, therefore, more than a little sad.

Can you guys follow up the TM and flag thing elsewhere?

Moog, despite your quirky and eccentric slant on life (which I enjoy) you have displayed here, art that I feel is something special that I, for one, would like to purchase. How can that happen considering I live in Oz?

Easy, just roll up the canvas in one of those roll up thingies that surveyers use and courier the thingie.... :D

I think Moog might be on a wee holiday after this effort..... :o

Oh, OK. I may not support everything the moog dives into, but the art is good.

Hmm Moog is on holiday? :o Anyways back to the art - love to buy one myself , perhaps Angkor Wat.

It was a very funny bit he wrote though.... :D Maybe he is just out on the terps today. :o

Oh come on that was funny - poor Moog getting sent off for that? (must be a build up of infractions)

Don't just make the obvious conclusion from my remark.
