So, there is one more thing the gov gets to have power over and just one more thing they are watching. Big Brother doesn't want us doing meth so eveybody needs to supply personal information to a stranger behind a counter just so they can unstuff a stuffy nose. Why? All because of some fck wad with habit. I don't know who to more mad at. :o

Your frustration and rage is justified my friend, but the directions of your anger are misplaced. I realize all you want is some nasal decongestant, but ....

First off, you should never provide this kind of information. Second, you should ask to see the store manager and find out exactly what is going on. Third, if they tell you a law has been passed, then you ask them to recite chapter and verse exactly what that law requires them to do.

Then you write to the CEO not only of that drug store, but every drug store that does business in your state and explain the invasion of privacy problem. You explain how this is going to cost them business in the long run and they should fight with their local lobbyists to overturn the law.

Then you write to your local and regional politicians and explain why this invasion of privacy is a problem and demand that the law be rescinded.

Then you go make friends with the local TV stations and make them publicize why and how the local government is attacking a mosquito problem with a bazooka. Politicians don't like to look bad in the limelight.

Etc, etc, etc.

Forgot who it was who first said it (Jefferson, Franklin or one of America's founding fathers) but it was something to the effect of:

"Your rights only remain rights up to the point when you choose to quit fighting for them."

What I mean is, If I understoo dyour "bridge too far" post, is ...

ok, america did us european some great turns in WWII right? I, and I think most of the world, however reluctantly, agree with that.

That war was unfortunately a necessary one, as many naitons and general world peace was at risk by the Nazi movement, right.

I´m not gettin ginto a debate about that here, but I`m writing this as background for my point.

So, ok, the US did us all a massive service for which we should remain grateful, for those actions, in those times.

That does not give the US a green card (PTP) to do whatever it likes in the future. (or in recent times)

So, what I meant was, when a friend does me a specific favour, of course I will remain grateful for that person´s actions no matter what, but that doesn´t mean that that person has the freedom to do anything he likes in the future, just because of a past action.

Or, to give you a more specific example, that happened recently_:

A guy from El Salvador who regularly came to visit our village, and was on eof our best customers, this guy we considered a good friend.

When Hurricane STan hit us, he was one of only two people who contacted us and offered us help, of the practical, financial side, and although we thanked him profusely, we said, "we´ll be alright".

ANyway, the guy did send us money from El salvador, which DID help the bar to remain afloat.

What a great turn.

Two weeks ago he moved here, and of course we were overjoyed to see him, and we invited him lots, and generally took him in as part of the family.

Unfortunately, he got into drinkng tooo  much, and he mistakenly thought that we would babysit him, when he got arrested for misconduct, and when he stupidly got into the wrong crowd and started using hard drugs, and basically, his behaviour turned violent, erratic, and dangerous, to himself, and to us, and to the legal security of the bar.

We do not feel this 55 year old man had the right to impose dangers upon our livelihood just because he`d helped us in the past.

He did think so.

Sadly, until the guy calms down, we are no longer welcoming him.

I hope that is a bit clearly, moree concise.

Very nice analogy Kayo; I think it describes how many people feel. I think it may be wasted on Boon Mee though, because it doesnt fit with his view of the world.

My view of the world?

When some Belgian states he wishes the US to collapse like the Soviet Union, anyone's view of the world might want to take stock of some history here? :o

Believe me I would love to do this, but there are others things first I must spend my time on. This is of course one of the problems facing modern Americans, the lack of time to perform the functions we would wish to perform. However, I also feel any fight I put up will be shot down. I live in an area with people who are too busy spending there credit like extra cash on hand to care about real issues. This are the Americans who bury their heads in the sand yet still vote saying to themselves and anyone who will listen that the voted with intelligence. These people want the cameras watching them, so they don't have to look over their backs. They want the v-chips because they can't sit down and discuss with the children why they shouldn't watch certain things or back it up with any kind of authority, because they don't wanna be parents. These people are the reason TV ads were made that talk about parents talking to the kids about drugs or taking time to read with your kids because they will do better in school. I am startin to think America is just sick and it will take a very good cleaning to get it well again, which no one will do because they don't wanna miss the midnight sale.

Sorry about the rant, I think I strayed off topic there, but a few things are bugging me.

I think that's what is going to happen. I have a feeling that I am not going to able to finish my education. It's just too expensive and I lack the required credit :D too pay for it. Thus I lack credit to take care of my family in this over priced Disneyland lost mirosoft owned country. I either need to leave or buy gun. Such choices!

And you are absolutely right. America is on the verge of a social collapse, not financially at least for now. I am surprised people are not in the streets shooting and rioting.

I hated the place, too many self-centered money obsessed pricks who think they contribute to a better world while in fact they are destroying society with their attitude.

My only advice: move to Europe and be happy.

I know every place has it's problems but people need to find the place that has problems they can handle. I am still looking.

We went that route before. Right, Europe has its own set of problems, still at the end, I think the quality of life is better. Have you tried living there ?

The Zeropean gift that keeps on giving

One 'ism' that continues to thrive. Zeropeans portraying American businessmen as gold toothed, hook nosed, bloodsuckers. Remind you of anything? :o

Le topo sera donnée ici dès le 10 décembre

The only generalisation I make about Americans is that the are fat and a little bit stupid, I don't think they would get anything more complicated than that

No I have not lived there nor was I arguing which place was a better place to live. You said you think the quality of life is better in Europe opposed to the US. Emphasize the fact that you think it is and it is merely that, your thought or opinion. Nothing more. No country is going to be without flaws, its just not possible. I have not lived anywhere in Europe so I will not begin to make statements about it because that would be foolish. I do know that its not perfect though. Have you ever lived in the US? If so, how many different cities have you lived in because there is a great variance among all the large cities in the US? Just as it would be foolish for me to make statements about living in Europe it is also foolish for you to make statements about living in America.

How many cities or countries does one have to live in before proclaiming a personal winner?

How many cities or countries does one have to live in before proclaiming a personal winner?

Proclamations are a dime a dozen....you only have to be alive to make one.

Well, last I checked, Brits are just as fat and probably just as stupid, but drink a lot more beer of better quality on an hourly basis.

Nope Americans are top of the fat index, followed by Australians we are well down the list after samoans, swedes and a load of other fat nations...see WHO surveys on adult obesity, or are you going to prove my second point and refuse to see the truth that stares you in the face as per standard US blindfold refusenik technique
