You're probably all fed up to the teeth with this story, but I think the problems might have been with IP Star all along.

Try http://mycamera.dyndns.tv:82 user2 002

I can get instant streaming at home now with full camera control. Let me know the results

Tell the guy at the back table not to chew with his mouth open. :o

I can connect right away and I can get the snapshot, but with "Client Settings" I get a blank screen showing a missing plug-in. What plug-in is required?

Firefox can't find the server at mycamera.dyndns.tv.

Not working for me at present

Lampy, could you be a bit clearer with your password and user info, I've tried various combos but as usual, it doesn't work (for me) :o

Same here.

I do get the snapshot though.

go to internet options/security and click "allow unsigned activex"

Tried it first on Firefox and was unsuccessful. Went on to IE, was prompted to install Active X, which I did, and it said I wasnt authorized to view. Sorry.

Isn't there another way to view a webcam, sounds very risky to me but thanks for the tip. :o

I can't understand you lot. I can get it on nearly every com I try

I know fkall abt webcams except viewing them, never been asked to load ActiveX before accessing one......... why Surin ? :o

The thing is that your web cam is rather complex with its user control panel and all. The client PC (the guy trying to view the web cam) has to be perfectly setup with the required plugin: Active-X(?) -- one of the most dangerous and insecure technologies on the Internet....

Most web cams use something like Java or JavaScript (two very different animals) to pull images off the cam site.

So, you can either leave it with ActiveX and have a certain population remain unable to view it. Or, you can switch to some other technology (as was used in the upstairs cam) and have a wider viewing audience.

Up to you....

It's not working for me either Lampy... although the snapshot works fine.

:D

Try a different animal... :o

Taoism: shit happens

Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit

Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah

Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it

Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us?

Atheism: I don't believe this shit

Never ever allowed unsigned ActiveX components...that is begging for trouble.
