Thai Wifes New Passport Uk Visa In Old One!

My Thai wife has just renewed her Thai passport. She has a valid UK visa until 2015. Am i right in thinking she only needs to carry the old one with the Valid UK visa? OR is she required to transfere the visa to the new passport. cheers guys

She needs to carry both passports, if the old one has expired.

My wife carried and used two passports for years.

The old one had an Indefinite Leave to Remain in it. The UK Border Agency wanted £200plus to transfer it to the new passport and we would have had to travel to Croydon to get it done.

Needless to say, carrying two passports was cheaper and less hassle.

Take BOTH passports. Although the old passport has expired it's only the passport and not the visa, which remains valid. I returned with my wife from the UK and Norway on Sunday. She carried both passports and with no problem throughout the trip. However I advise not stapling/fixing them together as the officer at Heathrow on entering the UK needed to scan both. You can get the vignette transferred from old passport to new, although at a cost of 5,100 baht. This is not compulsory. Follow these links:
