Wireless headphones for use with TV

Looking at buying a set of wireless headphones to use with TV, been looking at Sennheiser RS 170 / 180 / 220 models.

Read a few mixed reveiws and was wondering if anyone has had good or bad personal experience with any of these models.

Prices i have seen range from $280-$400 USD.

Are they available in BKK, if so, where?

I had some in Australia years ago. Think I bought them via a Late Night TV Ad Campaign and think they were only about AUD$60.00. They were of course NOT Sennheiser but they worked just fine.

Left them behind in Oz but wish I had them now when I want to watch late night News in the bedroom.

Sony have a few model of wireless headphone, Bluetooth, radio-frequency and infrared. I own a Sony infrared headphone a few years back and I was very satisfied until my nephew dog got his tooth on it.

I have used my Sennheiser RS180s daily for several years. They are brilliant and well worth the ~GBP155 I paid for them in the UK. They seem to cost a lot more here, but doesn't just about everything that comes in a package?

Other brands I have tried don't even come close.

Be aware that the RS180s are open and so there is some sound leakage in both directions (not a problem for me) and they dont have a digital input (shame). Based on that you might prefer the RS170 (closed) or the RS220 (digital and a lot more expensive). All those models introduce a very short sound delay due to the signal processing which can be compensated by a digital amp if you even notice it.

I'm not sure if you are still interested but i saw all these models at a shop in fortune town. I couldn't tell you the name but it was a shop specialising in audio equipment and i think i remember it being on the top floor.

The prices were quite a bit higher than you would pay in other countries though.

I have used Sennheiser 170 model for over a year. Very pleased with them.

Previously had several Sony and Philips models.

I use them to compensate for hearing loss.

Amazon US has best price I've found.

Sound delay has not been a problem.

Sound delay for any reason can be synchronized using VLC media player by using " G and H" keys to advance or retard sound by 250 ms increments.

A bit off topic or maybe not. Does anyone know are there any headphones wireless or not, preferably wireless, that will work along with the TV speakers? I am a bit death and would love to listen to the TV through a pair of headphones, while the rest of the family listens at the volume they like, usually way to low for my ancient ears.

Hopefully you're not that far along.

Some TV's have an AUDIO OUT or LINE OUT jack/port that can be used to send sound to an external device

Sometimes using them will disconnect the built-in speakers, so not always ideal. In this case you could use a cable signal splitter to send the sound to both a wireless headset for you, and a standard Stereo or 5.1/7.1 Surround Sound Amplifier (Great for watching movies).

I bought my headphones for just this reason. My wife hated when I cranked up the speakers so I could hear the talking on the screen. I did some homework and bought a nice middle priced set of Sennheiser headphones. The unit is RF wireless with a transmitter/charger station and the over the ear headphones with Nicad batteries.

Using now more than 1 year and work perfectly. The unit comes with a connection to allow plugging directly in to the audio out jacks of the TV or use adapter to plug in to the speaker jack. In my case I choose to plug in to the audio out jacks of the TV and this allows the speakers of the TV to continue working and the volume can be controlled with the TV remote. The Sennheiser headset has its own volume control right on the headphone and this can be increased to allow a comfortable level for any movie or TV program. Range of the headset is good and I can walk around the house and not miss a thing. Good for watching sports as you can listen while doing something else.

The unit really will work on any device that has audio out so not limited to just TV.

I have used the headset for many hours and the nicad batteries hold up just fine. When I finish for the night I hang the headset on the charger stand and the next day ready for another use. The AA nicads are easy to change when needed.

is it true that for watching TV you need a special wireless headset? Apparently there are bluetooth good for mobiles only but they will not pair with a Bluetooth TV? The salesman tried to explain this to me... but I am not sure.

I use a set made by Turtle Beach. They're marketed at gamers, but they have jack, phono and optical inputs so they'll work with pretty much anything that makes a noise, and offer surround sound too.
