BANGKOK, April 17 – The pro-government Red Shirt group today cancelled a planned rally on Aksa Road, earlier scheduled for tomorrow, but vowed to hold political a demonstration whenever a crucial situation arises.

Tanavuth Vichaidith, spokesman of the Red Shirt’s United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), said the group will re-assess the situation before deciding if a major rally will be held but the cancellation of tomorrow’s demonstration is not a retreat.

The UDD earlier rallied at Aksa Road in Buddhamonthon before Songkran, but cut short its activity after three days of gathering. It announced before dispersing that a major rally would be held after Songkran.

Mr Tanavuth said the UDD would fight without pulling back, for genuine democracy for Thailand.

Thida Thavornseth, UDD adviser, said a proposal by anti-government leader Suthep Thaugsuban to appoint a prime minister under imposition in Section 7 of the Constitution would be impossible.

“That’s why we (Red Shirt members) have to rally to emphasise our principles against ulterior power,” she said.

She said the UDD originally planned a rally after a the Constitutional Court’s ruling (on the fate of caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra) but “we may organise the activity earlier if necessary."

She called on Red Shirt supporters to be ready for the next rally which is planned for Aksa Road and urged the Election Commission and independent agencies to ensure a fair general election, otherwise Thai people will fight for justice. (MCOT online news)

If anyone has an issue with varmints raiding their vegetable garden, just make some copies of the photo in the OP and put them around the perimeter of the garden. Problem solved.

Thida appears to have taken over again.

Looks like Jatuporn and Nuttawat are not present, preparing their brown underwear for their court date tomorrow.

Or possibly they will be part of the delegation to meet in Hong Kong so were be to busy to attend.

They couldn't have done a Ko Tee, not the two heroes who would fight to the last drop of blood.

Well the Thai Rouges Laurel and Hardy where noticeable by their absence, if they had a chance to be on a plane to meet The Dear Leader, I am sure they would have taken it. They've never shown any real courage of their convictions, but what to expect from a couple of Thaksins rent-a-boys.

Come on Thida and Jatuporn, where's your massive support now?

Report doesn't mention any comment from jatuporn or from nutawut, both of whom

were very vocal and hard nosed immediately after the recent udd ''''' election ''''' of leaders.

Suddenly thida again the main mouthpiece.

Then various comments on the law regarding the various situation, but in reality none of these people are experts about the law.

Strange to say the least.

So come on fab4 and froppe, you guys often claim you where there / u have the inside information. Give us the real story.

And while your at it, please answer the many requests for answers as to why the unpaid destitute farmers went instantly / totally quiet.

No sir that would never happen. Take note of the word they and their below, not we and our.

From the article:

For their part the Pro-Democracy Red-Shirts have promised to fight until the last drop of blood.

'But the red-shirts are not worried. They are ready to sacrifice their lives to bring back the true democracy and justice to the country’, said UDD leader Jatuporn Prompan.

"Thai people will fight for justice"

Fight for justice by orchestrating attacks on the very people whose job it is to uphold justice.

That is PTP logic right there.

What they really mean is that they will agree with a justice that allows their criminals to remain free irrespective of whether the evidence implicates them or not.

This highlights again that their popularity is slipping. Not that anyone doubted the majority hold a low view on celebrating terrorist attacks of course.

I am starting to pity the PTP for their inability to accept the majority. Even having to cancel rally's they feebly state we will be back. It is not a retreat..

On April 6 Jatuporn challenged Suthep to a rally numbers game - whoever gathered the more people would " win " - whatever that was supposed to mean. It's not certain that Jatuporn knew what that meant, either. But one thing he did understand - he'd lose the bet. So all the subsequent talk by the UDD about 2 million people " paralyzing " Bangkok ( peacefully, of course ) was just that - just talk. Not that the people of Bangkok are not relieved by the UDD's numbers problem. One can sense the relief in Vistavision. Fascinating that Jatuporn didn't show up during the UDD conference. Now perhaps they will tone down their rhetoric regarding the judicial process. One can only hope.

It seems like a very sensible decision to me. At this stage this is no specific reason to hold a rally. That, of course, may very well change when the Constitution Court delivers its decision. If the consequence of that is the removal of the Caretaker PM, then we shall all be able to hazard a more informed opinion about the possibly dwindling support for the UDD.

Heheee the last rally was supposed to be their beating of their war drums with 500,000 or more people but they couldnt get 100,000. If you all remember this rally was supposed to be a rally of numbers to see which party could show the most supporters. I guess to gracefully cancel in advance means they didnt have enough team players. My guess would be they couldnt even get the numbers they had at the last rally. Their support base is dwindling along with their leadership.

Flop. I just drove down Utthayan Road an hour or so ago. And, as has been the case since they left a couple of weeks ago and people had to clean up after them, there wasn't even the slightest hint that they were planning to be there tomorrow. Last time, preparations were in place two or three days beforehand. Translation. A bluff. They never intended to come back, because the first demo was a flop.

Actually, it was just a rehersal for a flop.

It's because they have even less support than they had 2 weeks ago when they had to call off their rally a day prematurely when there were only 100 left.

Also Jatuporn and Nattawut both have to be up early in the morning for prison.

It is only funny because it is so true.

This is funny....obviously the udd doesnt have the numbers. They are bankrupt

Please dont include me with the suthep backers tho...hes just as bankrupt. Win for the thai ppl...now find a real leader ! And elect him before the old powers appoint their person and further mess up thailand with their antiquated systems
