Addressing letters going out of the country

I need to send a letter to someone in the United States, so I'll be making my first trek out to the Thai post office pretty soon. I don't think I'll have any issues buying envelopes and stamps, but I do need to make sure that I address the envelope correctly. A couple questions:

1. Does the Thai post office accept envelopes addressed in English?

2. If yes, is the address format the same as in the United States?

Interesting. That's what I was going to post about. I always use USA as I assume it is easier to understand than United States of America, to anyone who doesn't read a lot of English. Like I can "read" that a number is a price because baht is only 3 characters.

The OP may be Canadian or British and they use a different format. So he asked and it was answered, no need for your 2 cents, of course

Definitely a good idea to use 'USA', The simpler the better

Sending by "registered" will guarantee it gets there, "long tabien" in thai.

If its important and needs to go quickly use EMS but its a little expensive.

Both of these can be tracked online.

Once you put USA on it, there's no need for them to be able to read the rest of it.

It will get sent to the USA, and the post service there will do the rest

Re tracking a registered letter:

-- first, do a Google for: thai post

Load that and enter your registry number

After it departs Swampyboom, wait a few days, then

-- second, do a Google for: usps tracking

Load that and enter the same registry number
