Do Burmese have a special treatment as to obtaining a work permit visa or other types?

Recommended Posts

Burmese, laos and Cambodians can receive a special L-A migrant visa which than also gives them a 2 year wp

note the work permit LA is used for the labor foreigner who has no evidence of their nationality. This is meant that the foreigner from Burma, Laos or Cambodia has no passport confirming their nationality so they will be required to go back their country and ask from their country to provide the temporary passport.

The work permit under the Non-Immigrant LA is reserved for only Burmese, Laos and Cambudia, as worker employee. In practical, the official of labor office always found that many of them have no passport. So these foreigners have to go back to their country for issuing a passport and also apply the Non-Immigrant LA visa at the Thai Embassy. Once they come to Thailand with this visa, they will allow to work as legal worker in Thailand

first u need go to the labor dept an apply for a "quota" to hire the Burmese worker.

It costs less than a wp for a western.

PS:

most lawyers have no idea what it is or how to apply

If u interested in getting this go to the labor dept and they have all the info you need,

Cabinet resolutions allowing special exemptions from the normal rules and reserved occupations for labourers from the 3 neighboouring countries are rolled over on a regular basis, annually I think. The workers also get pink alien worker ID cards from district offices.

They added a nationality verification step in the process a few year back. So they now must have a temp passport and in the case of the Burmese at least, the non immigrant LA is issued at the border.

Great thanks for your reply. Do you know by any chance the price of a work permit for house work for a would be burmese maid?

One Year Work Permit for Burmese Worker on a two year Non LA Visa Entry - 1300 THB.

However the Temporary Passport and Non LA Irregular Migrant Labour Visa also cost, as does the Government Health Check and Insurance payment, for these you are looking at 10K THB+ though an agent.

There are also only certain calendar periods when you can apply, currently they are in the process of only regularising registered migrant workers who have been here longer than 4 years, which was the previously agreed maximum employment period, now being extended.
