Court official confirms guns were stolen
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- JUDGE Advocate-General Jira Komutpong yesterday confirmed reports that dozens of guns had been stolen from the Defence Ministry - but stressed they were not weapons seized after martial law was imposed.

He also said 40 guns, and not 54 as reported, were missing Jira said that two of the guns were linked to cases that were being tried by the martial court. The other guns were related to cases that had been closed.

The Defence Ministry had kept the two guns as evidence in the event the cases were reopened, he said.

He said the 40 guns were pistols seized as evidence, allegedly used in murder, attempted murder and extortion cases.

Jira referred to reports that army Captain Chinnapol Or-rungroj and army Master Sergeant First Class Somkiat Mayong were arrested by Judge Advocate officials.

He said that Chinnapol, who had the key to the storeroom where the guns were located, had been arrested but had denied the charges while Somkiat was still at large. Both men have been suspended from duty.

Another day, in the land of make believe!

The source of most of the illegal guns on the streets in the UK is...................... the army. Soldiers smuggling weapons from overseas postings, used to be rife.

Not unique to Thailand, or developing countries.

Is there any reward for creating a new name for the ministry? I mean, the word "Defence" seems a little inappropriate if they can't defence themselves from arms robbery.

''Defence.''

TIT; anything that's sellable and can be moved will be converted into cash to bolster someones account. Anyone who believes that this country can be 'reformed' is living in cloud cuckoo land.
