NLA holds meeting ahead of PM vote

BANGKOK, 20 August 2014 (NNT) - The National Legislative Assembly held a meeting this morning ahead of tomorrow’s vote for a new prime minister.

NLA Vice President Surachai Liengboonlertchai presided over the meeting which is aimed at finalizing meeting regulations and agendas for the upcoming session. The meeting will focus on the selection criteria for the new prime minister.

Tomorrow, on the meeting agenda will be the prime minister vote and the scheduling of 43 bills review for the next meeting.

It's widely expected that army chief and head of the National Council for Peace and Order General Prayuth Chan-ocha will be named Prime Minister. The new prime minister will be Thailand's 29th and will succeed former PM Ms Yingluck Shinawatra, whose administration was toppled by the NCPO on May 22 of this year.

Why so army centered? The Navy chap will obviously just say "Aye, aye, sir" or if in doubt "Aye, aye, sir. May I ask to be told the reason?" rolleyes.gif
